Firefox crashes

Firefox consistently uses at least 16% CPU time even in Safe Mode. It crashes when I press "End task" in the Task Manager or just press the minus sign at the top right of the FireFox window. I am attaching the latest crash report that is called [@ AsyncShutdownTimeout _ places-will-close-connection _ PlacesUtils read-only connection closing as part of Places shutdown] - Firefox 50.1.0 Crash Report - Report ID 5d901a39-d866-4c13-86dd-3e6f82161230.htm.

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.
