When I run a search, I get a blank screen and can't see the results.

The results are there, but not visible. I know this because when I run the pointer over the blank page, it reacts to the live links. But I can't see them. How do I fix this? Thanks.

Your results page has a slightly different address than the one I get, mine has a page number at the end:

http://search.xfinity.com/#web/search%20problem/1

???

I notice in your screenshot the Ghostery icon has a number on it, suggesting it is blocking something in the page. Could you check on that to see whether it is preventing the results from loading.

Is this with all search engines, some, a few?

The Start In Safe Mode dialog box did not appear.

It only happens with the initial research from my xfinity home page using Google.

Did you follow the instructions in my last post?

I did follow the instructions. It only happens on this computer (I have another computer that works just fine).

I should mention that I get xfinity tool bar at the top when I search, just a blank screen below it. But at the bottom there is another space to insert new search or modify the existing one "enhanced by Google."

Using Windows 10. There is no listing for Accessories and no listing for Microsoft Paint.

So one option might be to skip the Xfinity overhead and search directly on https://www.google.com/

A couple things to look at:

  • If you right-click in the problem part of the page, does the right-click context menu show a This Frame item? If it does, expand that and try Open Frame in New Tab to see whether it displays normally.
  • If you right-click a blank area of the page (not on a link or image) and choose Select All (or using the keyboard, press Ctrl+a), can you read the missing text?

Could you copy the address from the address bar on the broken page and paste it into a reply here? If it seems to contain any sensitive information such as your email address or account number, please replace that part with 0000 before posting your reply.

I think the Windows 10 start menu has a down arrow which displays a large list of programs. These are in groups, and Paint would be in a group listing free programs that come with Windows.

That was the problem. How do I permanently get rid of Ghostery? Not sure how I got it in the first place. Thanks.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Ghostery.
