I have made two donations to Mozilla when asked. I am now moving to Chrome because the latest edition of Firefox does not recognise the add on extension "Visited". Like 8% of the men worldwide I am colour blind and cannot see which site I have visited except with "Visited". The latest edition of Firefox has removed this option.

What total arrogance !!!

It is also VERY difficult to contact you and make my feelings known. Wasted a lot of time before I got here!!

I did think that Mozilla was just a bit different to the "big boys" and voted with my donation. However the truth is you are just as bad.

How can you totally ignore such a large section of your clients and still not do anything.

What total arrogance !!

Goodbye and I will take my money and flase belief elsewhere

The extension author posted this suggestion:

"If you use Firefox 47, please use Visited Lite instead. (Update soon)" https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ad.../versions/

Visited Lite is a user script, which is a lightweight add-on you run using the Greasemonkey extension. Unfortunately, you have to set it up from scratch, it can't copy over your preferences from Visited.

If you want to try it, there are two steps:

(1) Install Greasemonkey: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/

A link will appear to restart Firefox to activate Greasemonkey, then

(2) Install the Visited Lite script: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/15173-visited-lite

To edit the color used by the script, you can open it from the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click User Scripts. Then on the right side, right-click > Edit the Visited Lite script and that will open it in an editor. Note: if it gets broken during editing, you can repeat step #2 above to restore the original.

Hopefully the author will fix the extension soon!

Dear   Chris,
Just like you I am someone who has a lot of questions pertaining to   'computer-stuff'   in general and Firefox in particular.
With those questions I turn to this support forum;  to these wonderful people who are   not   FF-employees,   but   volunteers   who are here to help us   (people like you and I).
You obviously didn't know that   .........
I understand your anger and frustration,   but please:   don't take it out on these guys,   okay   ?
Just take a deep breath and give them a chance to answer your questions;   who knows:   you just might change your mind about saying   'goodbye'.
Good luck and hang in there   !
Greetings from   Happy112.

Hi Chris, Please do not give up. I am sure there will be alternative addons or methods.

If part of the problem is changing the colour used for visited links that is probably easy enough to do & I imagine there will be addons that do it.

Manually use

Menu Button {Threebar icon) -> Options -> |Content| ->

Now in Font & colours (colors) use [colors] and click on the visited & unvisited box to open up the colour picker. And select the [override ..] and as appropriate chose Always or .. Hi Contrast ...

I have not got time at the moment to try to check for a suitable addon I did find the one that is reported to be broken https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/visited/ There are hundreds of addons mentioning visited links https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=visited+link&appver=47.0&platform=windows

P.S. probably worth looking at

P.P.S I note the developer of the Visited addon was asking for donations, I guess that is who you paid. That is not part of Mozilla but another individual developing addons.

It is not not Firefox that supports Extensions but the Extensions authors that support Firefox.

The Visited extension author has a comment for Firefox 47.0 users https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/visited/

Extensions generally do not get impacted by a new major Firefox update however on occasion they do and the extensions that get affected usually gets a update when the authors can.

The vast majority of extensions at addons.mozilla.org are by a third-party author or company as those done by Mozilla would have say Mozilla or Mozilla Labs as the author for example.

Hi Chris,

If you are still following this question and have any further comments. Or if there is anything we may be able to offer advice and help on, relating to this issue, please post back again.

Thanks John

Forum Note I am going to mark this as solved. (That is actually against the forum guidelines but I feel it is appropriate in this instance ) The OP is no longer responding, but did point out this sort of issue could be important to (colorblind colourblind)1 8% of the population so marking it solved because that makes it easier for those people to find some sort of an answer.
