Selected text does not show up as highlighted

When I select text it does not show up as highlighted (ie. with a blue background color). I can tell that the text is properly selected because delete, copy, and paste all work as expected, there is simply no visual feedback given for the selected text. Highlighting works properly on the rest of my system and in other web browsers.

Another issue that might be related to this is that it seems that search dialogue boxes and some buttons do not have the border/outline that they used to have (I noticed this for the buttons that the Lastpass password manager extension uses).

OS: Arch Linux using KDE Plasma 5 Desktop Environment

Solutions attempted thus far: reinstall firefox, run in safe mode, refresh firefox, delete ~/.mozilla directory, changed desktop theme
