When I Download the MIME type window doesn't show even if I set in Applications to "Always Ask"

When I try to click on download link, the "Opening with" window does not pop up to ask me what to do with the file. I tried going to Applications and set to "always ask" does not work and I've also tried to reset the download actions by following the instructions in: http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions

Did you try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder?

Did you check the Download setting in "Options/Preferences > General"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
