When I start Firefox, the window opens up and "connecting" appears top left of screen, as normal... but it won't connect. It will not connect to homepage, or any other bookmarks, or clicking on a link in email. I have uninstalled and reinstalled (twice), but still have the problem. I am having trouble uploading screenshots. Thanks.

What is your computer system and Firefox?

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Thanks for the reply. However, I just checked and my Windows firewall is already set to allow Firefox. So that's not the problem. Interestingly, when registering for this forum I received an email from Mozilla Support to confirm my email - and in this instance I WAS able to click on the link in the email and Firefox opened and worked perfectly. Otherwise, I cannot get Firefox to connect to anything at all.

hi, can you please see if uninstalling firefox 44 first and then installing the 64bit version from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ does solve this issue for you?

Thanks Philipp, but I'm already running 64bit version.

could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? thanks

thanks! this shows that you are not using the firefox 64bit version though, so please proceed as recommended before: uninstall firefox first and then download and install the 64bit version from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Before I do that... doesn't the "WOW64" in User Agent line mean I'm running the 64 bit?

Well, that seems to have fixed it! I dare not ask why all of a sudden one day out of the blue I need to install the 64bit - I probably wouldn't understand the answer! Thank you very much Philipp for spending the time to help me out. Cheers, Karen
