Headerand footer overwrite printed text. How can this be prevented?

When Firefox prints most documents, the header and footer overwrite (overlap) the text. Documentation indicates that the (text) margin can be set using Print->Page Setup->Margins; but Print->Page Setup has no "Margin" entry on my system (Linux running Firefox 41.0.2; the browser/opSys guess is essentially correct).
