No Adobe tags seem to be firing with DTM switch installed

more options

Hi,

On debugging any website to validate Adobe tags using DTM switch (i.e. DTM switch installed), there seem to be no tags fired at all while the same are being fired in other browsers.

Thanks and Regards, Aastha Chaudhri

That extension uses the "widget" module, which no longer exists in Firefox 40. The extension needs to be updated. You could contact the author to see whether an update is planned (if they even know about the problem): http://www.searchdiscovery.com/contact/

Meanwhile, if you can't do what you need to do without this extension, you could switch (temporarily?) to a different variant of Firefox called the Extended Support Release (ESR). This is designed for companies that require a longer cycle time between feature changes, and currently is based on Firefox 38. It will get security updates over the next several months, but not get new features, so changes related to add-on compatibility will not kick in for quite a while.

If you decide to try it, here is how I suggest installing it:

Clean Reinstall

We use this name, but it's not about removing your settings, it's about making sure the program files are clean (no inconsistent, corrupted, or alien code files). As described below, this process does not disturb your existing settings. Do NOT uninstall Firefox, that's not needed.

(A) Download a fresh installer for Firefox 38.2.1esr from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)

(B) Exit out of Firefox (if applicable).

(C) Rename the program folder, either:

(64-bit Windows folder names)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Fx40

(32-bit Windows folder names)

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

to

C:\Program Files\Fx40

(D) Run the installer you downloaded in (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

Success?

Note: Some plugins may exist only in that old folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:

  • \Fx40\Plugins
  • \Fx40\browser\plugins

HI Aastha_Chaudhri, Thank you for your message, I understand that some tags are not showing in the Web console when you set them while debugging. Are you using a DTM add on? It looks like an add on is needed to see these called "DTM Switch" look for the right one in addons.mozilla.org.

Hi Guigs,

I am using the 'DTM Switch' and I do not see any tags being fired specially with the DTM switch. In fact, now DTM switch has disappeared too even though it shows that the add-on has been downloaded and is active.

Did they rename it or has it become none supported?

What i could see was before i updated the firefox version to 40.0.3, it was working fine with DTM switch. It has stopped working (and now has disappeared) after the firefox upgrade. There were a few upgrades done to DTM as well. Not sure, but is it possible that the add-on has not been updated to be supported by latest version of browser?

Right I understand it has disappeared. It is possible that the add on is not compatible with the new version of Firefox. If the add on is still accessible I might try to reinstall the add on.

Is is listed in your profile folder under extensions? Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

more options

No, i couldn't find anything related to DTM listed under extensions folder.

Sorry, but i just noticed something else. even though i couldn't see anything under Extensions folder, i could see DTM switch listed in the support UI under the heading 'Extensions'. Not sure if this helps. I have attached a screen grab.
