Firefox cannot remember links I have clicked to visit websites. Upon restart, all links I've previously clicked appear default blue as though that link had never been clicked, rather than the usual purple which indicates that that link has previously been clicked. Updating FF doesn't help. Refreshing FF doesn't help. All the very same links display normally in Chrome (Chrome remembers all links I have visited). For anti-tracking I have Blur and Ghostery.

Do you have your history set to wipe on exit? I'm not sure if Blur had the option, and never used Ghostery, but the Firefox option is in Options > Privacy, and then under History. I would check the add-ons too, if they're privacy/anti-tracking ones.

History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings
    (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.
