What value is there in simply using development builds (Beta, FDE, Nightly) if you dont submit bug reports?

Does simply surfing with a beta (or newer) version of FF actually do anything for MoCo? I really dont need the new features that will obviously appear sooner in those channels. At any rate, I have one crash report that I submitted on 9 July in my about:crashes profile. I have all data submitting options enabled (Options/Advanced/Data Choices), and have had all these options enabled since longer than I can remember. Im just wondering if this is helping them make a better browser (or at least confirm that changes are NOT hurting browser performance), or if they get no benefit apart from bug reports.

it will really be helpful if you just use pre-release versions with those data-reporting features on regardless if you provide manual feedback. this will enable developers to detect performance regressions or stability issues with certain configurations before they will ship to the general public through release versions. thanks!

If you want to give feedback but do not want to file reports in the general issues tracker Bugzilla then there is http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23 where Testers hang out.

Others there can help confirm the issues and even file the report. This way also helps prevents duplicate reports.

Also note one should not share the same Profile between Beta, Aurora (aka developers edition) and Nightly builds.
