I have done absolutely nothing. Auto updates on everything on my PC is ON. Now, today, I find Google Maps freezes after I have selected it, before I have done anything - the whole PC, requiring Ctrl/Alt/Del to get out of it, and Task Manager shows Firefox consuming oodles of RAM and multiplying! WTF?

Chosen solution

I am now able to access Google Maps...result! It still does not explain WHY this "fault" should happen just now...when things were so stable before whatever update was "updated". I am not in the habit of "playing" with "advanced" settings - not since Windows 3.1.... Ah, me. Life was so simple in them days...but slow, sooooslow! BTW, our local papers ,Newsquest Group, UK, Bournemouth Echo, run so many adverts around their pages, plus self-running advert videos, pop-ups galore, that Adblocker is a MUST. Just go-see, and you will see why UK users think that Ad-blocker is ACE.

hello, maybe that's an issue with hardware acceleration - please try to disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect). adblock plus is also known to be heavy on memory resources...
