Firefox continuously crashes. I 've sent all the reports using the message that appears after the crash and my antivirus can't find anything wrong with my laptop. I have the same problem with firefox on my tablet. Do you have any idea about the cause of this problem? Is there something I can do about it or should I use a diferent program for internet browsing?

Hi stathis64, the three most recent crash reports are problems with hardware acceleration, or more specific, Firefox not being fully compatible with your graphics card/chipset driver software (or possibly the dual GPUs).

As a temporary workaround, could you try disabling Firefox from using hardware acceleration:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. Any improvement?

Since hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations, you may want to check your computer manufacturer's website to see whether any graphics card/chipset driver updates are available for your system.

I have this problem as well. I had no problems with Firefox until this latest update, 38.0.1. Now Firefox is completely unstable. I have had multiple crashes in the last hour. Please fix ASAP.

Thank you for submitting crash reports. To share those with support volunteers, could you reply with some of the most recent crash report IDs? Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash IDs.

If Firefox is not stable enough to access the about:crashes screen, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any less crashy?

It's surprising that you would have the same issue on Windows and Android simultaneously, or is it a Windows tablet?

Is the crash report ID on the window you get when Firefox crashes? I didn't see any sort of ID number on it.

Hi armouredway, you might want to start a new question since the odds of your crashes being the same as the person who started this thread are not that high. To find the crash IDs, see the last section of this article: Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly).
