Why can I update a form on a web site, but the SUBMIT button is disabled? This has occured on a couple of web sites.

Example: I went to a company's web site to update my contact information. The site allowed me to enter the information but the SUBMIT button was disabled. Calling the company, they were unable to recreate my situation. This happened on another company's site when requesting information. I was able to enter my contact information, but was unable to remit as the SUBMIT button was disabled. Yet, the buttons on this web site are working. Therefore, I assume it is a setting on my browser, but can not determine the exact reason / cause of why the buttons were disabled.
