Why doesn't Yahoo toolbar 3.2.3.20140507025036 let me add, remove or rearrange my apps and are not displayed under "edit apps" for Firefox 35.0?

I have tried uninstalling and installing not only the Yahoo toolbar, but Firefox itself. I also ran CCleaner registry this AM. I can add Firefox icons for websites, but not my own. I can only delete icons by right-clicking on them in the toolbar. I'm frustrated because Firefox always worked so well before with older programs. I'm hooked on Firefox, so please help me fix this. I'm not a technical computer person. I see you've listed my plug-ins below; do you see a problem with them? Should I have my plug-ins "always activate" or "ask to activate"? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Chosen solution

Remove Yahoo Toolbar, then do a full install. Is there a reason you need the toolbar? Why not use the built in search engines? Note: you can add Yahoo, or any site to your Search Engine Manager.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

Thanks, but it didn't help. I always learn a little more when I "poke around." I'll keep trying...

Do you mean that you can't drag items on a toolbar when the customize window is open?

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
  • View > Toolbars > Customize

I worded my question wrong. I have Firefox 35.0. My issue is with the Yahoo toolbar, not the Firefox installed toolbars. The Yahoo toolbar worked fine until about a week ago. I have used Firefox with a Yahoo toolbar (with upgrades) since July 2011, so I don't understand what is happening. Do you have a suggestion for another toolbar app for Firefox similar to Yahoo (so I can add my own web pages)?

Through this forum, you guys have encouraged me to discover what I can do. I "poked around" last night before I got your last solution. I never bothered to understand what the "Most Visited" toolbar does. Now my websites are right there with less work to organize than the Yahoo toolbar. That problem solved. I really only needed the Yahoo toolbar for my mail and bookmarks, so now with your latest solution, I will "poke around" some more and see what the Search Engine Manager can do and possibly get rid of the Yahoo toolbar. Thanks so much!

I really only needed the Yahoo toolbar for my mail . . . .

If you know the web address, go there manually, then bookmark if in the Bookmarks Toolbar.

I'm getting there--I just need to figure out what to do with (where to put) my Yahoo bookmarks.

In the Bookmarks Manager. If you want, create a new folder for them.

Done! Bookmarks toolbar complete with my mail and other favorites. I also imported Yahoo bookmarks w/ folders (+copy in hard drive). Thanks, now I don't have to look at the Yahoo logo.
