Various problems with latest Firefox, not necessarily caused by Firefox
On windows 7 with firefox 34.0.
A few days ago i installed firefox 34.0, and at about the same time, AVG Secure Search decided to install itself against my wishes in Firefox. Since then, I have had a few problems. I cannot tell if these are caused by Firefox or AVG Search. Hopefully someone can identify the culprit and have some solutions.
1) AVG Secure Search has taken over my home page. I don't want it. How do i get rid of it? I have tweeted AVG and they have sent me 2 removal tools that don't work
2) When i type in a text box on a web page, while i am typing, and seemingly random times, the cursor focus suddenly switches to the url address bar and i look up to find myself typing in the address bar.
3) When i navigate to a website, it disappears from the address bar, occasionally but not usually, the web page appears as normal but the url just disappears and says "Search or enter an address"

hello richlaughlin, please try to reset firefox - this might likely resolve all three of these problems...
Hi. If i reset firefox, will i lose any bookmarks, add-ons, downloads etc?
EDIT: Just noticed the article linked tells me what i lose and keep. I'll give it a go.

hi, the bookmarks, history and downloaded files will be retained after a firefox reset. your addons will be gone - however i suspect they are responsible for problems #2 & #3 anyway, so it may be good to start fresh in this regard...
Thanks for your help, it's certainly got rid of AVG Secure Search and the other two problems have not yet re-occured.
