How to change color of blank white background that shows before sites load?

The trick used to be to place a line in a UserChrome.css file. There was an update quite some time back and it seems Firefox doesn't even use this file anymore so I'm right back to seeing these eye-melting blank white pages on my monitor for a brief moment and then Firefox loads whatever site/page I clicked on.

Please tell me everybody isn't just living with this.

I'm afraid none of this has solved the problem. Changing the about:blank page color helps with the white from loading my sessions, but it does nothing to stop the white I see from just loading webpages.

If I click on different links among search results, I can see the white all too well. I notice that once a website is loaded, navigating it's pages does not produce the white load page. It only seems to do it when I load an entirely new site.

I'm on a 37" monitor now and it's really awful if you can imagine, especially at night. The only way I can avoid the blank white loading pages is to have a different background color when I'm browsing the web. I toggle this color with an addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/color-toggle/

Trying to get my friend to change his color to something vibrant and double check that the userChrome background color code is actually working for him, because at this point I just can't believe that it's working for him.

Un freaking believable. My friend swears up and down that it still works. He sent me this screenshot to try and prove it https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/114165078/Screenshot%202014-11-03%2015.32.28.png

I don't understand! Why is this working for him like it's supposed to and not me?

"In my profile folder (C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default)"

  1. Are you certain that is the exact name of the Profile you are actually using? The Profile folder name normally has a prefix of 8 alpha-numeric characters that is randomly generated for each new Profile.
  2. Have you opened your Profile folder via Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder to make sure you are looking at the Profile you are actually using?

Yes, I just didn't feel like typing it all. I figure people know what I'm talking about. Like my new profile is g3awg4sa.default

To reiterate, this USED to work perfectly well. It just doesn't work anymore for me. Heck I could swear it worked for just a moment yesterday when I changed the color and tested it out, but then it stopped working.
