Hello, i have three PCs with installed Tunderbird. On one of them i want to add a new mail-account. If i follow the instruction here: [https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/automatisch-konto-konfigurieren#thun...], it leads to an input mask (not a Tab!!!), where i can enter an account-name and the mail-address. Clicking on Continue some automatic search is started but never stops (=> screenshot).

As i tried to do it several times now and tried to find other solutions, red instruction etc., i write now. Also: Im not sure if it is a bug.

I already mentioned in the beginnig: I have three PCs here. I used one of the others compare, wehere it works as described in the documentation (not an input-mask, but a Tab). So the probem occurs only on this PC, not on the other. Systems: Not working on win11 Thunderbird 144.0.1 (64-Bit) Working on win10 Thunderbird 144.0.0esr (64-Bit)

Mozilla automatically put in the necessary info for an xfinity email account and said it was accepted, but I don't see the second account in my email program. Can you help?

Dobrý deň, mám dlhodobo problém s pridávaním nového emailu v thunderbirde. Pri nástupe nového zamestnanca vždy vytvorím nový email cez websupport, a následne email pridám do aplikácie thunderbirdu v počítači. Vždy to išlo bez problémov, ale teraz keď sa pokúšam pridať nový email, zadám názov a adresu, prebieha konfigurácia a ďalej nič nenačíta. Nechala som to konfigurovať aj hodinu, ale nič sa nestalo. Aktualizácia thunderbirdu je aktuálna.

I couldn't find the right keywords to find the answer in either Google or this Q&A forum.

I added a new email account, but didn't write down how to get its folder to be hidden so "Tunderbird" is the only folder that is shown in the left hand-side tree.

Restarting TB didn't help, and it's not obvious while going through the different settings.

1.Recently, while trying to modify my account settings, I found that the “Add Account” function in the upper-right corner gets stuck on the loading spinner after submitting the information. Did ask forum for help on 12/9/2025, and though there was some info on line to solve my problem, I was unable to understand it, or proposed solutions did not work.Tried now to log into mozilla account, but cannot find any section about any replies. As problem driving me crazy, will try again.

1 When emails come in, instead of the sender being shown in the from box, it gves me at pethen.riseup.net as the sender. 2 If i click on any link in the text of the email which I need to access, this function does not work. All that appears is the link text I click on gets surrounded by a text edit box (ie a thin square line with small boxes you can put an arrow on to change shape of box for editing 3 a yellow banner appears at the base of any email reading " a unique identity matching the from address was not found. + "the messagewill be sent using the current from field and settings from identity peter hendry<pethen@riseup.net> 4 My other emailaddress linked to my mozilla thunderbird client has no problems. This has to be such a simple problem relating to the account set up which for some reason my PC has taken into itself to change, either text in my address books do not match, or I have ticked a wrong bos in the setup, or not ticked one at all,

You keep changing things so much it is getting more a little aggravating to have to dismiss each. Today I had to figure out what was wrong with my login. I still don't know why it was no longer good and set up a new account which seems to be working.

I don't want to have to keep re-learning everything and having to reestablish all my information just be able to check my mail. I continue to get more and spam in my inbox because people trick you online into sigining up for daily posts etc. I especially don't like having to change my password so often because your system wants it. I don't. I just want a program that shows my email, not advertising from every idiot on the internet.

Please, keep the changes to a minimum. I seldom see any great difference from one version to another anyway. Wouldn't it be helpful not to have recreate Thunderbird all over again?

iCloud email seemed to be working for a while, but a few days ago it no longer showed me iCloud mail, but instead, keeps popping up a TB request to sign in to iCloud: https://p46-contacts.icloud.com is requesting your username and password.' I don't really use iCloud mail, so I removed it completely from Accounts in TB, yet this message keeps coming up. If I supply the correct info, it still will come up after 5 minutes or so. What can I do? Thanks, John

How do I install an email address that has been deleted and also can't remember the password for that email address. My other email address is rdherman@comcast.net for you to answer please.

I have add several accounts hotmail.com in Thunderbird with out a problem but, I can't add hotmail.gr account.

I’m encountering an issue after migrating my domain and professional email service.

My address was originally hosted by Cabanova and configured in Thunderbird. I recently transferred the domain and email hosting to OVH, which caused the old mail server configuration to stop working.

Here’s the current situation:

The account in Thunderbird is still using a POP server (ssl0.ovh.net – port 995), while OVH uses IMAP (port 993).

I cannot change the server type from POP to IMAP within the existing account settings.

When I try to add a new account, Thunderbird completely freezes after I click “Continue” and never gives me access to “Manual Configuration.”

I also cannot delete the existing account because it contains all my previous local emails that I need to keep.

At the moment, I’m able to send emails from this account via OVH, but I don’t receive any incoming messages.

What I’d like to do is simply update the server configuration to OVH’s IMAP settings, without losing my existing local messages or recreating the entire profile.

Could you please let me know if there’s a way to:

Force an existing POP account to switch to IMAP,

Or safely recreate the account as IMAP without losing local data and without Thunderbird freezing during setup?

I have a new laptop "YOGA" with W11. Now I want to add an extra e-mail address. I am in Sweden and now I want to add my Spanish e-mail. It is a " @telefonica.net" address. I only want it to receive mail, to send mail I use my ordinary swedish mail. When I put in the "@telefonica.net" Thunderbird will not respond it says "use only letters and figures etc"

How can I fix this?

I use Thunderbird on Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave), server is Orange. My account on Orange was referred as POP. I recently transformed it into IMAP ant it works OK. On the IMAP account, I created the same e-mail address than on the POP account, and I wish to keep it.

Now, can I suppress the POP account without loosing my address ? In the Thunderbird help, it is said that : if I suppress the POP account, I will simultaneously loose my address. But it is the same as on the new IMAP ! What should I do ?

Thunderbird can't seem to add my outlook account and keeps telling me to check username and password; both of which are correct.

I have two separate accounts; a hotmail account and an outlook account. It added the hotmail, but won't add the outlook account.

I am trying to re-set my login. I have the correct pwrd . When Thunderbird finds my account and I click on "done" , the message "incoming servicr already exists". After that nothing happens.

I've searched and tried all suggested solutions but nothing is stopping the constant popup asking for a password for a long deleted email account. I removed all saved PWs. I removed contacts that received email from that deleted account, I've cleared cache etc etc etc.

Nothing is stopping this extremely annoying popup.

I somehow have two account names, one name is gmail(IMAP), the other just gmail. Messages appear duplicated in each folder but deleting from one does not delete from the other. The gmail(IMAP) is currently the default Identity. Can I just delete one and if so which one should I delete? Thanks for the help

I want to add school e-mail account to Thunderbird cause I already use Thunderbird for my private e-mail. If I try to connect the school e-mail account to Thunderbird, it loads and loads and loads but never gets the IMAP and SMTP settings from the server. It tried to add the account in a new install of Thunderbird in a virtual machine and there was the password input at the start to the usual name and e-mail input, when adding a new account. There it worked and Thunderbird got the settings from the server. But I don't want to access my school e-mail account via a virtual machine. I want access through my own PC. So it looks like the server needs the password from Thunderbird to get the settings but there is no way to input it before requesting the server. Or is it? Thanks for help in advance.
