linux firefox not saving logins
Firefox on my Win 10 desktop seems to be saving logins just fine, but Firefox on my linux laptop isn't. Instead of saving the logins I've actually used (manually) to log into a website, it offers me instead the next time I attempt to log into the website a list of some user IDs I've never used on that website. Why is that?! Anybody have any idea why, where saving logins is concerned, my Windows Firefox is working fine, but my linux Firefox is not? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Not sure what you mean by "Is there a reason for the old version of Firefox?" Both versions, on my Win 10 desktop and my Linux laptop, are updated automatically (now 96.0.1 in Windows and 94.0 in Linux). I've been using my Linux distribution's packaged version of Firefox since I installed the OS 2 years ago and, according to Firefox support (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-release?redirectslug=update-firefox-latest-version&redirectlocale=en-US), "If you use your Linux distribution's packaged version of Firefox, you will need to wait for an updated package to be released to its package repository." That's what I've been doing for 2 years. I have never manually updated either installation. That is done automatically on both machines. I'm also not sure what you mean when you say "What OS?" As I indicated previously, I'm using Firefox on my Win 10 desktop and on my Linux laptop and the problem/question I have is: Firefox seems to be saving logins just fine on my Win 10 machine but not my Linux machine. I suppose it's possible that this is a bug in my Linux version of Firefox that will be corrected when a later version is "released to its package repository." I don't use Sync. I don't need the 2 versions to be synced. In fact, I use them differently and want to keep it that way.
To be clear, although I can not provide more insight than jonzn4SUSE can, we understand that you use Linux, but because all Linux distributions differ slightly (or much more than slightly), we would like to know if your repositories are far out-of-date (as an example, Manjaro tends to delay updates in interest of stability)
It is possible that your Linux distribution has reached EOL and is no longer supported with updates. Since you are using Firefox from the Ubuntu repositories, it looks your Firefox is no longer updated as you are using an outdated Firefox 94.0 version and not the current 96.0.1 release.
You can switch to Firefox from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
Yes, perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm running Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon. I see now that I've got a few updates I should probably install - I do that every few weeks - maybe I should install these more often. Is it possible then that a newer release of Firefox would not have this problem??
Oh, sorry, just saw post of cor-el. No, I'm still getting regular updates, as I indicated in previous post, so distribution has evidently not reached EOL. I see in Firefox Release Notes that 94.0 was released on 11/2/21 so that was only a couple of months ago, so I'm not too far behind. I'm fairly new to Linux so have so far just accepted updates as they're issued. I don't mind being a version or two behind. If this is not a problem that is occurring in 96.0.1 then evidently the problem has been fixed and I guess I'm wasting everyone's time reporting a problem that has been fixed in a release I don't have yet. I'm going to install right now those updates I've been ignoring for the last few weeks. Maybe an update to 96.0.1 is in there and I could have saved all of us some time and trouble if I'd just installed it sooner! Thanks for everyone's help.
