I'm running Tbird 78.8.0. Others have had this problem and the solution was discussed for Windows, but I'm confused about how implement it on Mac. I copied over a Profiles folder from another computer hard drive to a laptop running Big Sur 11.2.2, and though the contents of the file seem to be all there, the font of the application interface is too tiny for these burned-out eyes to read.

I deleted the add-on for themes and fonts that came with the profile, but that made no difference. Changing the font size in the Preferences pane makes no difference. Starting in Safe Mode makes no difference.

Is there a file I can simply delete somewhere that would reset the IU font size to something readable?

I applied the directions for the Windows cure, mutatis mutandis, and it worked perfectly. I respectfully request that this question be deleted unless the manager of this site thinks it would be useful for someone.

The solution was posted by Toad Hall, and is here adapted a bit for Mac users:

Go to 'Preferences' under the boldfaced 'Thunderbird' menu Select 'General' - At the top of the left pane, select "General" (It may just open to this pane.) Scroll down to the very bottom click on 'Config Editor' button to open 'about:config' It will say be careful :)

In Search type: pixels Look for this line: layout.css.devPixelsPerPx Double left click on that line to open the 'Enter string Value' box so you can edit the Value. The default value will be -1.0 Enter a new number eg: 1.25 or 1.5 or 2.0 or 2.2 click on OK the effect is immediate, so you can modify that number until it looks ok for you.

I will just add that I found that the value was 1, and I had to boost it to 2 to get the display okay.

Recently, I deleted a gmail account and then added it back (long story about the reasons). I lost all of my filters so I created them all from scratch.

I recall being able to move a filtered message back into my inbox (that's what I did when it was something I wanted to urgently address) without it being 're-filtered' out a second time. Am I crazy? There are a lot of little things like this that seem different when I added the account back...Maybe something different in the server settings?

When I search I want the results view to be (show results as list>menu>view>sort by>unthreaded) every time, without having to select these options after every single search. How do I set this up to be my default search?

I downloaded Thunderbird Version 78.8.0 (64 bit for Windows 10) this morning to my new computer. Everything works fine, but I cannot find any tool or option I can use to increase the size of the fonts that are used in the Inbox (I'm old and can't read small type very well). Is there any way to increase he font sizes or change the color of text in these menus and lists? I know I can open an email and enlarge it using my scroll wheel on the cursor, and I can enlarge the screen size in Windows 10, Display Options, but that just runs information off the end of my display. I would appreciate any help that can be provided.

I'm archiving messages in folders with the year as a name, in subfolders of Local Folders - Archives.

In recent years I created just a new folder for the emails of that year. But last year something happened with the 2020 folder. It became a special folder. That means it is not in the right place in the list of folders, it has a different folder icon, and I can't use the 'find duplicate messages' functionality. I don't know why 2021 is a normal folder.

How can I make the 2020 folder a normal folder again, with the icon that is used for the rest?

Hello, My name is Alex and i have a very bad situation: I have 21gb of emails saved in my computer. I have 2 backups. I reinstall the windows from win10 to win7. And i did the ordinary settings. When i trying to open the folder mail.example.... thunderbird make the action, restarts need and after when i open my email is nothing there. But i dont hnow why the backup is half deleted. From 21gb i have 12. Can you help me please? I have the second backup .. and i will make also the third to be sure. I tryed to instal an older version but still not working. Tank you in advance.

I am running TB 78.7.1 (64bit) on Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa; Kernel: 5.4.0-66-generic x86_64, Cinnamon 4.8.6

Before I upgraded to the current version, I managed to get an ISO formatted date-time of dd/mm/yyyy HH:mm by going through these steps:

 open Menu | System Settings
 - select Languages
   - select Language support
     - ensure AU is installed, if not install
   - System Locale
     - apply system wide (this is the important bit)

 Close TB
 Open TB and I see a 24h format -> works :)

After the upgrade I ended up with the d/m/yy h:mm AM/PM format. Repeating the same steps (above), does not produce the desired result.

The posts I read all say, the system settings should be reflected in TB, but this was not the case (only after I went through the steps above); and does not work now.

Any hints appreciated.

Does anyone know of a way to continue to use the "Tags" add-on with TB V78? I use it very aggressively and it is something I miss terribly with the 78 upgrade. If no, Then because of that and a few other reasons, I'm thinking about downgrading to V68 and may need some help with how to safely do that. Thanks!

Hi everybody, I hope I'm not posting something already discussed, but I haven't found anything similar.

I would like the count of my accounts on TB (I have more than one) to not include unread messages in the trash and junk mail. Do you know if there is an option or extension to achieve this?

Also, it would be great if I could avoid other account subfolders as well (i.e. in my case Newsletters).

I am trying to filter on mail that I send to a specific forum and I wish to place a copy of the sent mail into my inbox for that forum. The filter that I set on the inbox works correctly but the second filter that I set on the 'sent' folder does not work. I have tried setting the filter on the subject (forum name) and also on the 'recipients' or 'correspondents', neither of which work. Help would be appreciated.
