I upgraded to 68 yesterday and Thunderbird just blew up after a decade of virtually no issues:
1. Upon initial TB loading, won't get new emails, won't load Lightning, ignores all options and account settings
2. Immediately goes to a white page, shows "Not Responding"
3. Immediate goes back to my email, no calendar, no automatic download of email
4. Today's Pane is turned off, have to manually change it to see my calendar
5. Today's pane shows no schedule events
Rinse, Repeat.
What has happened?
Went back to 60.8, all is well.
This is unbelievable that so much core functionality on my desktop is broken.

I restarted it both with all add-ons and without; no help. I re-booted the PC and still no help. I suppose I could reinstall it. If I do will I lose my contacts and other folders where I file emails away? Any ideas?

I previously had Thunderbird installed and my profiles folder set up on a secondary disk, not in the default location. Now I had to set it up anew, and want the new install to connect to that older profile in its location, leaving it there instead of copying it to the default location (it's rather huge, so I need to keep it on that secondary disk rather than copy it into the home folder).
Would anyone be able to tell me how that might be done?

I am new to Thunderbird and have just imported all of my e-mails from Outlook 2003. After much re-organisation, I find that I have a large number of duplicated e-mails (identical titles, date and time stamps) in my Trash and Sent folders which is making the amount of hard drive usage very large. Is there a simple way of removing the duplicated messages please?

I have had two email accounts for over 10 years. I have stored every important email locally in my Mac. There are many such important emails. I have closed both accounts with the email service provider and am no longer receiving emails addressed to those two addresses.
I want to delete both accounts from Thunderbird. However, i. I do not want to lose the past emails I have received in those two accounts and ii. Once the accounts have been deleted, how would I go about searching for and reading those old emails.

I installed Thunderbird 2 months ago. I set profiles so that old messages were not selected, but deleted msgs/trash were emptied at 60 days. 60 days after installation happened last week and now all my emails - inbox, archives. trash, etc, have been erased beyond 60 days. Fortunately I backup weekly with daily incrementals and I can recover all the inboxes before the wipe-out. But when I reconnect to the internet, they are all erased again. I assume because the sync with the gmail (and local ISP) servers - I have several email accounts. Q: Is there a way to have the restored emails on my PC/Thunderbird essentially copied back onto my email servers? Then once restored my hope is that the normal sync will download/imap the emails received in the past week (after the restore point). Thank you.

After latest Thunderbird update, Today Pane (in email tab) no longer shows events (Today, Tommorrow, Upcoming (2 weeks)) from gmail nor Personal calendar but does show Tasks (Personal). How to fix? Thunderbird version: 68.3.0 (64-bit) Windows 10 Pro ver 1909 (28 Nov) Using multiple gmail calendars (4 + Holidays and Contacts) and a Personal calendar (only way to get Tasks to work). In Calendar tab, all upcoming events show at the top (31 day filter?) and all events show in calendar. In Task tab, no events show in Today Pane although all 7 calendars are selected. I have also gotten Imap server errors (too many connections) twice when starting Thunderbird (after PC reboot), but no error on Thunderbird restart.
