Thunderbird email is not recognizing my password - it has worked for years and tonight I cannot download mine or my husband's emails. It says my password does not match, but I have not changed it!

How do I update my password to email on thunderbird? I don't have this window that appears and ask you to put new password in. I also don't have any password saved in "saved password".

Please help!

I am getting this error message when opening Thunderbird: Login to server imap.xfinity.com with username at @comcast.net failed. I need to reset my password for the imap server. Thanks, Kevin

recently offered the Primary Password as simple security to all my programs. filled in my choice , wrote it down and put it "safe". now neither password nor backup can be retrieved. is there a recovery path?

it seems imay have excluded help by this foolishness? my i phone picks up emails...so far. maloona112@gmail.com Any suggestions welcomed. fairly immune to ridicule, I understand little about jargon nd clever stuff.

I suspect this has something to do with our old mail-server and changing the minimum level for TLS to TLSv1.2

In version 91 there is no ≡ > Options > Find in Options to get to the Config Editor. How is that done now ?

I have been using Thunderbird for several years for my GMail accounts, and have always preferred to download my messages using the POP and SMTP protocols, rather than use the IMAP protocol which leaves them all on the web. Google now inform me that "To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0. What do you need to do? Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other email software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google." These changes are due to take effect from May 30th. How can I prepare for them and still use the POP and SMTP protocols after that date? Is OAuth 2.0 appropriate?

My email address and password were hacked today, so I can't get access to Thunderbird. I contacted my Webmail provider (Telstra - Australia) who have issued a new password that works in Webmail. However, apparently TB is only updated(?) once a month, and until then, my password isn't recognised by TB, so I can't get access to send and receive emails. I hope that makes sense. My questions are: is it true that I may have to wait up to 1 month to get this sorted; if an update is needed, when is the next date this will be done by TB; and is there any way that I can get my password sorted before the next update.

A probably related issue is that my Instagram account was hacked about 3 days ago and I got a scam email saying that my laptop had been accessed.

I have started getting lots of spam emails that Thunderbird is not identifying as spam. They go through to my Inbox. Thunderbird is identfying other emails as spam and correctly puts them in the spam folder.

Examples today are from Order-Shipment and Professional Who's Who.

Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?

Hi I work for in a corporate environment and due to security policies our employees and staff members are not allowed to see their thunderbird passwords

This however is an issue considering that you can just go to privacy and security and select show passwords and get immediate access to all passwords. Primary passwords are not ideal either considering the employees can't know them as well and you need your pp to sign into thunderbird in the first place.

I have tried disabling the show passwords button by adding the pref.privacy.disable_button.view_passwords;0 setting to the config editor as a boolean and setting it to true but the 'Show Passwords' button is still accessible.

Is there any way of hiding stored passwords in thunderbird without having to log out of the account?

I am using Thunderbird on all my equipment, I install it to my friends, on every Windows that went under my hands.

On every installation I have enabled spam detection: Enable adaptive junk mail control for this account WITH THIS SETTING: Do not automatically mark mail as junk if the sender is in (Personal address book, Collected addresses) - this settings has to "whitelist" whole Personal addresses and Collected addresses, too.

Then, in global settings I checked these checkboxes: When I mark messages as junk: Move them to account's "Junk" folder Mark messages determined to be Junk ak read Enable adaptive junk filter logging

Despite of these settings, Thunderbird from time to time, detects messages as Junk from whitelisted senders, too! It's very unreliable, when you mail with someone on daily basis and suddenly, some important message fall into Junk folder from this sender. Of course you have no reason to check the Junk folder for addresses from whitelist. Has anybody experiences with this Thunderbird bug?

I've been working through Thunderbird for a few years now but recently I've received word from a client that emails are apparently being rerouted and read through Iceland. Here is what they are getting:

I don't know if this is happening on his end or mine and I don't know how to check and confirm. It has happened when sending emails through two Gmail accounts through Thunderbird and I have two factor authentication so I don't believe the email accounts themselves are compromised. My best guess is that the issue is an email client, either mine or his. Is there any way to confirm?

Your site tells me that I have to go to the 'options' tab in order to change my password but there is NO options tab and no matter where I look I cannot find where password are stored or how they can be changed. I have windows 10. I've also tried using thunderbird on a different (windows 7) machine and can't get it to work at all. It's not exactly user friendly is it? I guess if you're a techie and love finding this stuff out then it's great but for a normal non-techie it's pretty hopeless trying to navigate around

I'm using Thunderbird for gmail in IMAP mode. In my IMAP folder, I have a Junk subfolder, and in my Gmail subfolder I have a Spam subfolder. What is the difference between these? Does Gmail determine Spam, and Thunderbird determine Junk? Are BOTH Spam and Junk used for the Thunderbird adaptive junk filter log?

I am getting daily phishing emails from .gmail where there are obviously no Google controls to prevent. How can I block the entire domain in Thunderbird? Thanks

I have TB 91. set to a pop server using SSL/TLS but got a message from gmx saying I will not be able to receive emails on TB AS IT USES OUTDATED SECURITY ... After the protocols TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 have been deactivated, the transfer of emails between your affected device or program and our GMX servers will no longer work; i.e. no emails will be transmitted to or from your GMX email account using TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. Third-party email programs such as Outlook, Thunderbird or pre-installed apps in which you have set up your GMX email account.We recommend that you only use newer devices and programs that support the latest TLS 1.2 or 1.3 encryption protocols and transfer your emails securely. I, like a gjillion other people, received a notice from Google/gmail saying I'm likely to lose access through Thunderbird unless ... blah blah.

I was running TB v59. If stuff works I don't make changes. It makes life simpler. I did a heap of online reading and research about this and found lots of advice. I did the following;

• allowed cookies
• removed passwords
• changed authentication to OAuth2 in both IMAP and SMTP

I got the pop-up gmail/Google window asking me to login. My password is accepted. I am asked to allow access to gmail through Thunderbird. I allow. TB hangs sending security information and then crashes.

I assumed that it must be because I was on an older version of TB. I updated to the latest v91 and checked that the OAuth2 settings are as they should be. All good.

TB waits of a bit and pops up a failure notification. This happens every time. If I click on "Get Messages" or I click on any of my folders, I get the gmail login popup, and I am asked to allow TB, AGAIN, and then failure. I cannot get past this.

I have done enough searching again, but I cannot find anything that helps. Can anyone here help with some guidance please.

I was pretty happy with the FLAWLESS(!) Frontier.com Internet Service UNTIL they unfortunately hired the disorganized YAHOO-Server Service: this UNFRIENDLY YAHOO is once-in-a while interfering when I'm trying to LOGIN to my DEFAULT(!) THUNDERBIRD ...does NOT ALLOW me to LOGIN to THUNDERBIRD AT ALL ...ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! Hello, I am trying to log into my thunderbird account from my home computer and it gives me this error message that maybe my username or password are wrong but I am sure it is correct . Can ou please help me
