102.2.2 has really messed things up for me. i can't see any emails after August 9th in any of my Saved Searches, and this is causing real problems.
i've tried deleting the global database and reindexing, but that did nothing.

The last auto upgrade included a calendar function, which I switched off as I thought this was causing the problem. But now after all the messages have downloaded, I get the usual pop-up box in the bottom right of the screen telling me I have received x messages but it only half fades in and the whole PC jams. CTR-ALT-DEL does not work and I can't switch to a different window or even click on anything in the Thunderbird screen. The only thing that I can do is hard reboot the PC and switch off the router, which allows me to start up Thunderbird without anything downloading. I am using Windows 7 and Avast as my AV. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Will ALL my Thunderbird contacts be transferred when changing to Thunderbird 102?

I tried starting thunderbird in safe mode and had the same results. Hopefully nearing the end of a long saga. Used Comcast email and T'bird for many years. In November I wanted to add a new address to Comcast and that's when my troubles began - it was like quicksand: passwords, and more passwords etc. it became worse and worse and ... worse! I gave up on Comcast and opened Yahoo and iCloud email addresses and engaged Apple Mail. I've used Macs since about 1985 and used individual apps for browsing, mail, office suite etc. I'm used to having an "Address Book" as part of a mail program; Apple Mail has no address book their Mail reads "Contacts" for an address - very nice if one is using an iPhone but not so on my desktop Mac - so I return to Thunderbird which I'm used to. We oldies single task - it's like driving 25 MPH.
Today Matt helped with the correct authentication method to get my T'bird logged on to Yahoo, now to the rest of it:
I need to unfreeze T'bird's opening page which shows a Nov. 18 email as the newest message - I can't click the page away, only scroll to older messages. I sent myself a message today but it doesn't appear as a received message. Could the Mailbox be at capacity? I'm running T'bird v115.6.0 on Mac OS 13.6.3 and it was OK until I poked the hornets' nest.
Any thoughts are appreciated

I am running win 10 (64) with thunderbird 102.6.1 (64-bit) and in the past 2 days keep getting a pop-up from ieee - I was a member. I contacted ieee and my account was deleted. A full scan using current version avast free did not find anything. I tried logging in and was rejected.
When this pop-up appears, there is an additional listing in task manager under thunderbird.
I find it extremely annoying to keep getting this pop-up.
I am also using comodo firewall.
I am also contacting avast and comcodo.
Any suggestions etc would be appreciated.
I cannot find where to enable switching from mbox to maildir (used to be Options/advanced etc). Can anyone please help?
Can someone explain to me how to enter the criterion New for the stus of a message in a filter ?
Thanks

All - there are enough questions on backups/restores that I don't want to load everyone down with an involved question, I'll try to keep it simple:
1- Using Mozbackup utility - appears to generally work fine and handy but continues to a) restore old accounts long gone (i.e. not present in Accounts list when backup file created with Mozbackup and b) does not restore complete set of new accounts (via Imapmail\*.com account files I take it). I am guessing that if any *.com account file is still sitting in \ImapMail folder and included in the .pcv file Mozbackup will try to restore this and set it up in Accounts list, so I'm going to try deleting all obsolete account *.com files before I do backup this time. Question remains about the non-restore of newer *.com account files though, which WERE present in \Imapmail folder at make backup.
Also, restore does not carry account server info into new accounts list, just the placeholder account name (in the list in Accounts pane on left). I have to repeatedly re-enter server info, re-establish connection, etc. Deficiency in Mozback or is this a safety thing?
2- see attached pic. Either Mozbackup, or something, is creating number-incremented copies of the account *.com files, with the newest (present time) copy having the highest added -# onto file name. Why is this and is it old to delete earlier/old dated files?
I am getting the feeling that it's safer/wiser to just manually backup-recopy all \Imapmail\*.com files (and *.msf files) into \Imapmail folder as per this post:
Restoring from a backup? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1381072
Any feedback appreciated! jt
