Hi,

I have just setup a new Office 365 account in Thunderbird and when I try to send an Email from the account, I get the attached error message.

When I click on "Enter New Password", the window goes away for a moment and then pops up again. There is no chance for me to put in a new password.

I know that I need to use an app password when not using Outlook which I have generated in my Microsoft account settings.

I have tried to go to "Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Saved Passwords" and have deleted all Microsoft related saved passwords. When I access my Email account again, I get prompted via the web login of Microsoft (i.e. different from the attached error message) and the app password I generated doesn't work, only the general password for my account works.

I have restarted Thunderbird and updated to the latest version, but it made no difference. I have gotten it to work on another computer, but on my mac mini, it doesn't seem to work.

Before I remove the account completely and add it again, is there any way I can fix this as I don't want to download all the messages again?

Is this a known bug in Thunderbird?

If any developer is reading this, In order to reproduce, you would have to follow these steps:

- Setup a Office365 account using the regular password used to login to the O365 website. - When sending the first email, enter the same regular password -> the first time, the dialog to enter the will show up, but it will fail, because the app password wasn't used - Then try to send again, click on "Enter new password" -> no dialog to enter new password is coming up.

I am using Thunderbird 115.10.1 on MacOSX Sonoma 14.1.1

The settings I have used are: server name: outlook.office365.com port: 587 username: my full email address Auth Method: OAuth2 Security: STARTTLS

I keep getting the message "Sending of password for user kcmsansiro did not succeed. Mail server pop3.iinet.net.au responded: [SYS/TEMP] Account is temporarily unavailable." and "Sending of password for user kcmsansiro did not succeed. Mail server pop3.iinet.net.au responded: Disconnected for inactivity." and "Login to server pop3.iinet.net.au with username kcmsansiro failed" on all 3 accounts (kcmsansiro, phildemaria and philrossi)

I can still receive messages on phildemaria but cant send without getting these messages

I am currently in the process of integrating the Thunderbird policies and about:config settings into a Nix module for NixOS.

It would be nice to be able to easily correlate Thunderbird versions to the matching documentation version. This could be done by using tags on the documentation repository.

Would it be something the Thunderbird team could be considering to add to their workflow?

I renamed a folder and now the folder is not showing. As the folders contains few emails and I want to those back, tried restarting the thunderbird many times. Let me know if faced the same before and found a solution for it.

Hi, Since 4 days all emails messages ending by ".... @akeonet.com" (SFR company) can't be sent or received via THUNDERBIRD. When opening THUNDERBIRD a password is asked for address email "lalevee.claude@akeonet.com". But the current password doesn't work. I'am getting then a demand to "try again" or "enter a new password" or "cancel" but again without any success. However when trying "Configure your existing address email", I'am getting the message: the email address ("lalevee.claude@akeonet.com") is found in the FAI data base MOZILLA ! Using AKEO webmail, I can find new messages received or can send new ones. Please notice, adresses ending by "...@gmail.com" are not concerned by this problem, and still working !??? Stopping firewalls doesn't solve the issue.

It is supposed that all emails (received & sent) are saved locally in Thunderbrid. I moved my hosting account from one provider to the other provider, I setup same email address as i had with the previous provider and also using in the Thunderbrid. I could still see all the emails but Thunderbird asked me for a new password. Things were ok up to this point but when i entered the new password, all of a sudden all the emails of that account disappeared. Surprisingly when i try to search something using search toolbox, Thunderbird shows me result from all the emails that are disappeared.

I believe emails are still there but disappeared due to some glitch & that need to be fixed in the code. Can anyone please provide me a work around or development can fix this bug & release a new version ?

I changed the password for one of my gmail accounts and now Thunderbird can't access it. It kept asking for verification. When I realized the problem I changed out the '@' but I can't change the password in Thunderbird. New emails are accessible in Gmail and Outlook but Thunderbird doesn't show then and nothing happens when I use 'get messages'. I need to delete the problem account to re-enter it, when I try to add the email address as a new account Thunderbird just says it already exists and does nothing.

I'm a thunderbird user. I've been getting large blocks of 40 or 50 old (4-5 months old) emails in the middle of the current emails. I delete them, but they're still in their original location.

Opened TB 115.11.0 (64 bit) this am A compact procedure started up. I am now left with a message whose subject is quite different from the content The next message has just come through - apparently no problem, but the original error remains. See screenshot. Not sure what to do next!

Only in the last 24 hours,I cannot add Attachements to emails I downloaded Microsoft Iview & that change Preferences on a lot of Apps Below is a examaple of it,I have tried different PDF Readers & they all do the same If I Go To The actual Folder in D Drive,then they will all open ok Please assist Thank you Darryl.Smith

Sometimes a mail comes in, a notification sound is played - but no notification pops up (Thunderbird notification).

How come?

The mail comes in normally and arrives in the inbox - it has no filter settings.

Hello Thunderbird users!

Today my father lost all the sub folders below the folder Archives. Doe anybody know how to get them back?

I tried the following:

• Clicked on Folder Modes -> All Folders
• Tried the solution mentioned here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Local_Folders

The strange thing is I also don't see any .sbd or .msf files, with one of the names he mentions, under the directory Mail (in the profile directory). How can they suddenly disappear or be deleted?

If someone knows how to get the folders (with the e-mails) back, that would be very much appreciated!

Thunderbird is not downloading. Email email or feeds. It is. Not downloaded since May 11th. Also your website is i Inaccessible Through any of the browsers, please help.

My mails are automatically corrupted or deleted from system.

Before my mail corrupted i had try to make folders for inbox mails and during this process my some of mails are automatically deleted lr corrupted.

How can i resolve this issue Please guide me

Trying to use Thunderbird to connect to my hotmail account but get an error message that says I can't log into "server" due to the prefs or login details are wrong. Have tried to search around for answers but can't see that anything is wrong. Any idea what to do? Use windows 10 professional.
