I'm running thunderbird on ubuntu 22.04 connected to external samba shares. I've used local folders on this remote location (samba shares) for may years. Two days ago, when I've try to move message from mailbox to local folders I've received error "not enough disk space". There was a plenty of space on that remote location. After several attempts to solve the issue I've found that problem happened when local folders are located remotely. When they are defined as local then everything work fine. I've try to cheat making symbolic link for local folders or even for single subfolder. Result is the same. Everything work fine if local folders are located locally on file system. Any remote location, direct or via symbolic link and even for subfolder, don't allow to move any message to that remote folder. There is enough space and proper R/W access tho that remote location from this machine. How I can return to my normal operation with local folders on remote location?

Thunderbird - Problem

My email address is: finnvebirk@webspeed.dk (alias: evab@webspeed.dk ) I have used Thunderbird email for many years. I have archive folders with more than 50 folders and sub-folders. Overall, I have several thousand emails in my archive folders.

After I wanted to create a sub-folder and move it to another location, the following has happened: All my folders and sub-folders are mixed together and arranged in a changed order. All emails in my archive folders and sub-folders have disappeared - all folders are completely empty. I think maybe a folder called 'Local folders' has disappeared. It is no longer possible to move emails from the Inbox to the empty folders. NOTE: Inbox, Sent and Trash still works.

Question-1: What happened ? What can I do ? Can I recover all my emails in the archive folders ?

Question-2: Can I restore my Thunderbird mail system as it was, e.g. 2 weeks ago ?

Question-3: As an emergency plan (if all my emails are lost !): Can I reset Thunderbird without deleting mails in Inbox, Sent and Trash ? If Yes – How do I do that ?

Good afternoon to all.

I use Message Filters to automatically send certain emails to two specific folders upon receipt, based on some defined rules (mainly who the sender is). Yesterday, I accidentally clicked "Run Filters on Folder", and the actions for my filter rules ran on every folder in my account, including my Archive folder. I could not find a way to stop the action once it started, so hundreds of archived emails were pulled out of the Archive folder and repopulated into my two specified folders. In each of these specified folders, I had a handful of emails stored in order to be able to come back to them as reference or to deal with later; I remember what some of these emails were, but I don't necessarily remember all of them, and now they're mixed in with the hundreds of emails that were brought back from the archive.

So, I have two main questions:

1. How can I prevent this from ever happening again? Is there a way that I can tell the message filters that a filter should never be run on archived messages?

2. Is there a way I can "undo"/reverse what happened, so that the previously-archived emails are sent back to the Archive? Or is there at least a way to identify which emails were in the two specified folders before they were inundated with all the messages from the Archive?

Hello, In Thunderbird (Vers. 115.9, OS Linux Zorin OS 17) I can integrate a calendar from a Mailbox.org account as described here(https://kb.mailbox.org/de/privat/adressbuch-und-kalender/caldav-clients-outlook-thunderbird-macos-evolution-kontact/). Everything works fine. If I now want to import a 2nd calendar from another mailbox.org account, this does not work. I can go through the process normally, but the 2nd calendar is not displayed. Does anyone have the same problem? It can't be that Thunderbird is not able to integrate 2 calendars ? Many thanks for your help

I am a long-time TB user with gmails. No problems in the past. I inadvertently hit send for my reply to a message delivered to me on a no-reply account (Wordpress). A big overlay screen popped up with the heading "sign in with Google" and then "sign in to continue to Thunderbird email"; then "enter email or phone"; and then "next". Clicking next takes you to a new screen that reads "Google 400, the server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That's all we know."

Meanwhile, TB tries to log on until it times out, ending with small box in lower corner of the screen, "Authentification error" (see third screen shot).

I logged onto my Google account and as far as I can tell that is okay. I've turned off my computer and tried sending emails, but always get the above screens. Seems like I'm caught in a loop and can't cancel out the error message. Is this a TB problem or a Google problem. Help!

I uninstalled Thunderbird on my Windows 10 computer, however when I downloaded and installed it again, I was able to recover most of what I needed from my previous profile, except my task list and tasks.

Having searched every article I was able, I could not find the file extension for tasks and/or task list nor when I do find it how to properly import into my new settings/profile which I am using.

Clocks went back one hour in Santiago, Chile last week and Thunderbird does not recognise the new time, although Windows (10) does.

The calendar line show the current time to be one hour ahead of the time on Windows; i.e., the Windows time has updated correctly, but the calendar time has not. Adding non-local events to the calendar causes them to be displayed one hour ahead of the correct time.

Changing the calendar setting to use the system timezone, or use America/Santiago has no effect that I can see.

Typing Date() in the error console of Thunderbird gives the correct time, as per Windows.

This also happened in the last time change here in Chile.

How can I fix the Calendar to see the same time as Thunderbird and Windows?

I believe that Thunderbird is one of the best email client programs available. This believe is the reason that i am trying to migrate to your email software. Sadly i have been experiencing a some dificulties on my main machine. I’ve tried for several times configurating the email on thunderbird, with sucess. The problem resides on every time that i close the program or restart my computer my email account vanishes from thunderbird. I am using an exchange2019 mail box. Could you please help me out with this situation.

Since a recent UPDATE, there are NO emails showing in the SENT BOX, or any of the FOLDERS including an important one labeled TAX RECEIPTS!!! The only boxes which show emails are the INBOX and the DRAFT BOX. After depending on Thunderbird for 20 years, I now have to use WEBMAIL. OH DEAR, Can you please help me. 'Vanishing Menu BarBar' Mac OS system is set to NEVER hide menu Bar, yet both Thunderbird and Firefox hide the menu bar, they are the only applications I have that do this. the posted solutions DO NOT EXIST in Mac OS 14.4.1. The posted solution says to customize and then go to a menubar drop down, but in both apps there is NO such menu item. There is a menu item for the tool bar, which I have ON, but not for the menubar. My Thunderbird stopped receiving emails. I am on a Mac. I am posting here because I looked through the list here. Others had the same problem but the conversation is now archived. I tried the offered solutions and they didn't work. So having just fixed mine, I'm posting my solution. Go to System Settings. to Passwords. Unlock Passwords by signing in. There you find your email service listed. Click on it and check that that password matches the password on your account on your email services website. If it doesn't, fix it. Then open Thunderbird on the menu bar at the top, go to Settings ( not Account Settings.) Go to Passwords, to Saved Passwords, click on that and it will show you a list of your saved logins. Below the list, you can click on Show Passwords to see what's there. I had a bad password in there. (I had more than one password that had been saved for Thunderbird.) I deleted all Thunderbird passwords. Then I closed and reopened Thunderbird, clicked Get Messages, filled in the correct password when asked. Bingo. My email downloaded into Thunderbird.

I'm currently using Thunderbird version 115.9.0. For the last several months when I detach, delete or save an attachment, Thunderbird will duplicate the email. I then manually delete the duplicate.

This didn't happen the first several years I used Thunderbird. Is there some setting I missed? Any solution to prevent this from happening?

Account setup: Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password. TB gmail was working fine, then all of a sudden a TB pop-up window was asking me to sign into thunderbird with my gmail account and then shows a 400 error. Totally confused at what is happening. Hey,

I'm asking my question here because I am not sure whether that is a bug with Thunderbird (as suggested by similar topics found with a quick online search) or with my system.

I am currently using Thunderbird 115.9.0 on an Arch Linux system with kernel Linux 6.8.4-arch1-1 and GNOME 46 with Wayland.

The problem is: The compose message window immediately loses focus when I click at it. Closing the main window doesn't help (or any other open window for that matter). I can still type and some of the buttons still work (tested Save and Send) but I can't edit recipients and I can't close the window (attempting to closes other open windows instead).

Things that were recommended elsewhere and that I tried to no avail: - clearing the cache - updating thunderbird and my system (already up to date) - moving the window to another workspace/closing all other open windows - restarting (duh)

I think this problem is with Thunderbird because I don't experience focusing issues with other programs.

I am also happy to provide additional info if someone wants to write an actual bug report. I was just scared off by the requirements of Bugzilla.
