When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).
Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?
I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.

How can I turn off the threading of my emails? Its driving me crazy as when an email comes in after a short time it disappears into the threads and then I have to open each thread to find out who sent the email. At one stage there were 6 emails noted near the inbox but no new unthreaded message, all went to respective threads. Very time wasting.

I accidentally changed my view to card view (at least I think it was me...) by clicking on a button on the quicksearch bar. Working quickly (to quick...) I don't know what happened, but the button was not there anymore and I cannot change back to table view anymore.
I really need table view! I manage hundreds of emails and need to be able to sort them quickly by clicking column headers.
When trying to authenticate a gmail account that has a passkey 2fa setup the built in browser popup does not allow a passkey prompt, nothing shows up.

I recently updated to 115.4.1 and now any emails that are multiple responses shows up in my inbox with a > beside it. When I try to open the email, it opens multiple windows, each with one of the emails in the chain. How do I get back to only opening one at a time and getting rid of the >?

I have been the phone with yahoo tech help and we have done several things including the app password thing that I guess Yahoo does with platforms like Thunderbird.
I can send out email BUT I cannot send emails in. Funny thing is that Thunderbird is not telling me it I need to put in a new password when I am trying to download.
Please understand I am not real tech savvy and I am a senior so I may be a little slower in understanding any explanations.

Login to server smtp.office365.com with username NAME@DOMAIN.COM failed.
[Enter New Password] [Cancel] [Retry]
Pressing the [Enter New Password] button makes the dialogue go away, but it doesn't prompt for a password. The OAuth2 authorisation screen I expected to appear never appears.
SMTP server config is:

The only other thing I can think of is the org uses SSO (saml2). SMTP is turn on at the Microsoft send, and we have tried Vincent's suggestion: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1307784#answer-1376341

Hi, I'm having a problem with my email. It comes to me through my website Bradfraser.net, and is hosted by Viux. Apparently Viux went out of business a while ago and didn't tell anyone. My email stopped arriving at bradfraser@bradfraser.net two weeks ago and all attempts to rectify this have been stymied by my not having my dashboard info for the site, and I am unable to get it from Viux. (Which seems to have a bot answering questions.) Is there any way you can help me access this email account and get it running again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
