I read that Firefox will using the Snap version by default on Ubuntu 21.10 and beyond. Will the non-Snap version still be available in lets say Ubuntu 22.04 and beyond? The reason I ask is because I use Firejail to sandbox Firefox and Firejail doesn't work with Snaps and yes I know that Snaps and Flatpacks both sandbox apps but I prefer Firejail because of the Private Home profile (nothing is saved in this profile settings, bookmarks, add-ons etc) its way more secure than the sandbox offered by a Snap.

I updated to the latest version of Zoom on Aug. 31 - as directed by my university. Immediately experienced issues using Zoom, and using MyLearningSpace aka Brightspace aka Desire2Learn.

Issue with Zoom: When I'm in a class (Zoom meeting), if I share screen, the Show Video panel option is now gone. Completely disappeared. When I stop screen sharing, the Video Panel comes back, and the option to hide or show it returns to the menu. Unfortunately, this is a nightmare for me - I can either show my students their slides, or I can see them to answer their hands up. I can't do both - which obviously I need to be able to do. So I basically can't run class on Firefox now. My uni IT has no idea what is causing this or how to fix it.

My uni IT keeps telling me, over and over, "Stop using Firefox. Use Chrome." I don't want to stop using Firefox, though. I've used it for decades and I believe in the product.

I asked over an a Zoom community forum, and several Firefox users replied that they are having the same problem. I can forward that thread, if it's helpful.

I am using the latest version of Firefox.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Firefox leaves full-screen mode when window manager remaps window to be in a frame and re-sizable.

In the window-manager that I use (KDE plasma), I can ask the window-manager to exit full-screen mode, without telling the window. This allows me to tell a window to be in full-screen mode, while in a framed window. I have attached a screen-shot of chrome showing a youtube video. Both youtube and the chrome are in full screen mode, however the window manager has re-sized it and added decorations (title-bar&frame), and is allowing me to resize, move, minimize, maximize, etc.

This works for every program that I have used (that has a full-screen mode). However it is not working for Firefox. It seems that Firefox is triggering off of the wrong event.

My guess: the window-manager sets NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN to enter full-screen, and would normally clear this attribute to exit full screen. When we exit full-screen, but stay in full-screen mode, the attribute is not cleared. However Firefox is triggering off of something else such as a re-size event.

Use-case: What I am trying to do

  1. Enter full screen mode: browser hiders tab-bar, and address bar, maybe web-page changes layout (e.g. you-tube resizes video player to fill window)
  2. Tell Window-manager to leave full-screen-mode, but not inform browser (or other app). Browser is now still hiding tab-bar, address-bar, site is till showing video in whole-window, but window can be moved and re-sized.

This works for every other app that I have user. (Some apps don't have full-screen-mode, so this does not apply to them. But it works for all that do have it.)

Hello Team,

There are two things which have been missing out from Firefox for many years.

1. Allow the Add-ons for (only) Private mode - Extra Protection. There are many Add-ons which I am only comfortable running in Private mode. There has to 3 options in the settings to choose; enable add-ons in Standard Mode, Private Mode or in Both.

2. Useless History - Unnecessary Overhead on Disk and Memory. There are many websites for which I don't want them to have a History such as Google Search; Gmail; Outlook; Twitter; YouTube, etc by obviously running in Standard Window (Not Private).

Users should have the option to let the Firefox know to not save visited URLs history for specific websites. Or keep the history not-older than 30-days for selective websites.

Let's make Firefox more secure, efficient and faster!

Regards, Rashid

I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu 20.04.3, at a dual-monitor setup. My problem is that in a Google Meet or Rocket Chat call, I can't present only one of my screens. My options are or to share a specific window, not practical because most of the time I need more than 1 window, or "screen" but it always presents both of my screens. ( not practical at all) Is there any solution regarding this issue?

I would like to block some sites (entire domains) from injecting JWPlayer iframes while I'm trying to read the site. (The Hill, https://thehill.com, is particularly annoying with this.) However, I need to see content that some other sites embed in JWPlayer, so I can't use the nuclear option of blocking the cdn for jwplayer in my hosts file.

Are there any settings or add-ons available that allow by-domain blocking of JWPlayer? (I don't care if it's a "whitelist" or "blacklist" approach, so long as I can manually determine which sites play and which don't.)

Why did Mozilla change the "Clear Recent History" dialogue window so that it NO LONGER has the "hotspot" that the cursor automatically goes to to make it quicker and easier to "Clear All History" after SETTING the choices to "Everything" and choose all of the options? The cursor USED TO be able to be set to go to the "OK" button automatically, now it does not. Why and why not? AND the dialogue window has been ENLARGED and SET in a CENTERED LOCATION onscreen. Why? Is it POSSIBLE to correct this oversight and allow for the cursor to go to the "OK" button automatically again? It seems that Windows 10 has presented additional challenges in maintaining a pleasant experience for MOST services/apps, and I hate that MS does that at every "update".

If there is NO way to correct/re-establish these functions to Firefox, Thank You for your time and efforts to keep Mozilla users/friends safe and happy, and stay safe and well,

When I start up firefox I usually select restore previous session to get back all my tabs, but sometimes I click on the wrong button and accidentally close out firefox. When I open firefox back up and try to restore the previous session, it restores to the session where I misclicked and only brings up the homepage. Is there a way to restore to the session before that with all my tabs, without having to go into browser history and bringing them up one by one manually?

Some of the answers to similar questions involve going to "%appdata%\mozilla\firefox\profiles\sessionstore-backups", but all of the files in that folder are either from several months ago or from after I messed up and lost my session.

In the attached image, the code is indented with 4 spaces, but it displays as if it's 2 spaces because the spaces are thinner than the other characters. In the second image, I've highlighted a single space, which is half the width of the character above it. I also downloaded the latest nightly and this still happens with it.

Github's current `font-family` rule: `ui-monospace,SFMono-Regular,SF Mono,Menlo,Consolas,Liberation Mono,monospace`

In devtools, firefox underlines `Liberation Mono` as the active font-family, but I uninstalled that from my system and it switched to `monospace` (Noto Sans Mono) with the same issue. If I change it to remove the `Consolas,Liberation Mono,` it gets fixed, but when `Liberation Mono` is installed+highlighted and I only remove `Consolas,` it doesn't work til I remove `Liberation Mono,` as well. Note that both `Consolas` and `Liberation Mono` resolve to "Noto Sans Mono" "Regular" in fc-match, which is my default monospace font.

Apparently I created created a Mozilla Support using my personal email address as some point in time (probably a long time ago). To clarify, it's not the email attached to this account. I had to create this as a temp account due to the issues with my primary account.

Best I can piece it together, I then later created an account for "Firefox Sync" under a different email address, then changed my Firefox Sync account email to my previous email address. Here's the chronology:

2015? Created Mozilla Support account with personal_email@outlook.com 2016? Created Firefox Sync account with work_email@mywork.com 2020? Firefox Sync, Mozilla Support all merge into "Firefox Account" 2021: Before leaving my employer, I switch my "Firefox Account" email from work_email@mywork.com => personal_email@outlook.com. Firefox Account doesn't complain, all goes well and personal email works fine as my primary Firefox Account identity. 2021: I attempt to log into Mozilla Support using my newly merged "Firefox Account" and receive the following red toast error messages: Error 1: "The email used with this Firefox Account is already linked to another profile" Error 2: "This account is not active. Please contact an administrator if you believe this is an error"

Hopefully that all makes sense, any ideas who to fix this? Assuming it's impossible to log in with my old/original Mozilla Support account, so I appear to be at an impasse.
