I noticed that after the last automatic update, the fields I had to type text in, had a lap in time, over and over. Very hard to keep typing. I tried deleting cookies/history, everything, had my Mallware going, I tried to go to the default of the Firefox, did not help. Today I brought my laptop to a specialized IT shop and the man there said that I was the second costumer with problems after the firefox update. AND I don't want to go back to Internet Explorer. Now I have an older version installed of firefox, of course Googlemail said 'do not like it that you have the older version' (different words of course, English is my second language) It cost me €75 to get it fixed, however I am very scarred to have the latest update that you might have in a few weeks/months, will the problem still be there, I do want to be updated with Firefox. I have no clue what automatically add means and for now I don't want to click on anything that might give me the last automatic update for firefox. Did you get more of these complaints? and have you fixed it? With regards, Astrid. I made sure that I have 'automatic updates' off

Good People, can anyone explain why my installation of Firefox (v3.0.1) on Windows 2000Pro has ceased (as of ~1st September) to connect thru https protocol? As for many years, all worked fine on 29th August but attempts to reach the same website on Monday, 1st Sept, yielded an error 'window' stating "ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap". Sites using the plain http protocol worked fine. I had not made any changes (in any part of the system) over the weekend. I used the installed copy of Kaspersky to check for malware and found "No threats detected". On the suggestion of the 'websites helpdesk' I tried typing the address (and not the bookmark used without failure over the years), but same result. Tests showed that a 'virgin' (not previously connected to the Internet) installation (Firefox3.0.1 on W2k, no KIS but on a different PC) gave the same result, as did a (separate 3rd PC) installation of Ffox3.0.1 on XP (and the native version of Internet Explorer also failed). Further, I found that (on the original PC) 3 more of my bookmarks using https failed with the same error report. Use of a friends system (Wndows 7 and native IE) showed that the website (of the original failure) was functioning OK. Comparison of settings showed that both (Ff3/W2k and Win7) used SSL3. Turning to this ('look see' trial) installation of Ubuntu 12.04LTS (with Girefox23.0 on my original PC) showed access was achievable, but I can not determine what settings are deployed. Whilst a migration (of OS and/or browser) is anticipated in the long term, a solution on my current prefernce (W2k & Kaspersky) is highly desired from functional, comfort and trusted security considerations, so any suggestions (known to solve the problem).

First, don't like to be forced to be updated..second,you used to be able to change the tabs position..I hit,"tabs on top"..in the bookmarks tab, thinking I could change back..WHAT A MISTAKE..Opera is a cool browser, that needs to be revisited..great sliding zoom feature too. My GF uses Comodo Dragon as her browser (almost too secure)..but if security is what really want at the expense of,yes some porn sites..:-( then go for it.

Firefox has crashed more times lately too. I still use it though for the adblock,so it has been relegated to one step above IE.

Don't like Chrome,"what's with the symbols..how about words?" dumb move.

Anyway thanks for letting me type, I am sure there is no simple answer to moving the tabs,by what I read..

Too bad for Firefox..its actually sad,P.S..was thinking about a Firefox phone, but that is no longer an option. At least with this problem,I am not out any money..

Back when I upgraded from version 21 to 22, there were a few things that I didn't like, and one of the big ones was the DPI detection. I have Windows xp fonts set to large. But I want websites to show at a normal size. I design websites, and this is critical to me. But suddenly all websites were displaying comically large. I discovered instructions to go into about:config and change layout.css.devPixelsPerPx. I played with this some, and with it set to 1.0, the webpages were fine, but now the firefox navigation was microscopic. So I switched back to version 21 and stopped auto-updating.

Recently, I was on a firefox support page and saw a message telling me that my version of firefox has a security risk. With all the recent security issues, I figured maybe I should upgrade. But now the auto dps detection is back.

This is seriously annoying for me that they'd force this sort of a change on us. It's very Microsoft-like. I'm again falling back to version 21 and wondering if this will be my WinXP version of firefox. My question is - have they modified anything to allow the user to completely disable this detection mechanism and return it to pre-22 functionality in that regard?

I understand that engineers at Mozilla sit around looking for ways to make firefox better, but they've got to understand that for most of us, it's not a hair style or a party dress that we're bored with. We don't want a new look. It's a tool that allows us to look at web sites. Sure, make it faster, give us options for change if we'd like to go that direction, but don't make us have to re-learn how to do everything.

Yesterday, I was listening to radio when I accidently deleted my today's browsing history which caused firefox to freeze for several seconds, after that I decided to restart firefox, but after the restart I wasn't able to listen radio anymore. Today I've searched for this problem in many sites and found an add-on "places maintance" which helps fixing problems with places.sqlite file. After I ran it, it said that my file is corrupted and asked me for new file, but I don't want to lose my history. Once again I searched a solution for this problem and found out that there's a way to fix it through sqlite shell, but unfortunately I don't know how to do it since I'm not an expert and can't follow the steps. So my question is, can someone in details re-write the steps so I can do it myself. Here's links:

My MSI GT70 0nc-008us (w/i7-3610QM, GTX 670M/3GB GDDR5, 16GB RAM, ) suffered a critical crash upon connecting a new Seagate Backup Plus Slim Portable 2TB hdd. Lost Win 7 (64-bit) primary account. Recovered account, which appeared intact. Contacted GeekSquad tech support merely to "check & confirm" that OS was not damaged. Tech mistakenly, without any notice, executed a "tune-up," thus rendering Firefox (& other programs that I've optimized & customized over the past 2 years) effectively useless to me. For most of my applications, the history upon which I so greatly depended throughout the day, every day, was "wiped-out." As if that wasn't bad enough, for Firefox, the tech removed ALL addons, extensions, "history," themes, etc., leaving Firefox in the most basic configuration. Due to disabilities, I could not use it in any productive manner after what he did. Thankfully, I always keep backups of the profile (which I luckily made the prior afternoon) so, when I called GeekSquad back to advise of them of what the tech did, another tech assisted me to so correct. Unfortunately, I had no restore points due to... ["...it's a long story..."] ...by a Norton Live Ultimate Help Desk tech (to which service I was previously subscribing). So this GeekSquad tech, to whom I spoke over the phone while he so endeavored, & who was surprisingly very competent & knowledgeable, analyzed my system and said the history from all of my Microsoft, Adobe & other applications, could not be restored. However, he deleted the active Firefox (default) profile & replaced it with the backup. It then "appeared" to be as it was before the mishap. However, I then noticed too few tabs opened. So I replaced the session. The chosen session opened as usual, but took longer to be accessible, and there were then 2 popups asking if I wanted to let scripts continue. The popups referenced the "session" & something about "tab mix plus" with a ".js" extension. After selecting whether to continue or stop the scripts, another 2 scripts popped-up. Whether I opted to allow the script to continue or stop the script appeared to make no difference. Within a couple of min's most of my tabs disappeared. It took a while to figure out that they had been erroneously put into groups. A few groups had names of groups I used to use, though most were untitled. I stopped using groups months ago. Also, to the best of my recollection, the script alerts (popups) which happened infrequently while using v21, have not occurred since upgrading to v23; until now. Please note that I had almost 200 tabs opened, which had been put into 12 groups. I eventually tried dragging the tabs from each group into a single group, after which it "appeared to be stable." Though I then reduced the number of opened tabs to 110, & am no longer experiencing this issue; unless I reopen my previous 187 to 208 tab sessions. [I'm wondering if those sessions could themselves be the problem...possibly corrupt?] Unfortunately, I will need to open (& leave open) a total of from 140 to 210 tabs in my default session (used throughout the day, everyday). Firefox previously functioned well with 200 tabs open, with only one or 2 crashes every couple of weeks or so; & it always restarted & worked fine. If i can provide any additional information to assist you in providing a solution, please let me know. A Google search revealed that others have suffered from the described problem with groups, though I found no solution. It is my hope that you aware of, and have successfully solved, this glitch. Anxiously awaiting your reply. Thank you ever so much in advance! All the best to you & yours. pb.

The PID was 1408 and it was that of firefox.exe. The foreign address was my external IP. To be sure I checked it also with online port checker and the 45365 was the only port open. Is this ok or should I be worried?

Got an email from Yahoo about new Yahoo Extension for Firefox. I installed it, but did not like it. It did more than I thought it was going to do, it changed my home page, default search engine, etc... so I went to my Add-On manager and Removed the extension. Reset my home page, etc, but even though the Yahoo Extension no longer shows on my add-on manager page, it is still active. When I click on the + to get a new tab, it automatically opens www.yahoo.com/?ilc=301&fr=ff-tab instead of giving me a blank page. How do I remove this.

I have Windows 7 and my adobe flash player keeps crashing. I keep getting a prompt saying "Shockwave Flash Player may be busy or not responding" and giving me the options to "continue" or "stop plug-in". This makes it impossible to watch/listen to media online. Not only this, but it makes Firefox hang and/or crash. It also makes my iTunes completely non-functional. It also affects me searching for some of my files and folders on my C drive. All of this started after the last Firefox update. How do I fix this?
