I wanted to change the password of my Firefox account and also generate a recovery key, but whenever I try it says "invalid password". The old password is correct, though, as I can use it to log into my account. I've tried multiple times on two computers and checked and re-checked the password, but the error message keeps appearing.

Hello, sorry for my English. I would like sometimes to launch Firefox behind VPN. I can indeed do it by using options manually, it works perfectly. All along my search, I have found that a private mode launcher can be made ("C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private-window). Is there any similar instruction, but for a Firefox manual VPN option activate ? Thank you for your attention.

Every time I open Firefox it asks me for my master password. I have read a lot of forums but nothing has worked. I do not use sync or Windows 10 sync, I doubled checked to make sure they are both off. I have refreshed Firefox to default settings and used with no add ons. The only security software I use is Comodo and I have looked all over for any settings that will effect firefox's memory. Since Firefox won't keep a master password even in default mode I'm thinking its outside Firefox and the only thing that comes to mind is Comodo. I really don't want to remove Comodo and then have to set everything back up. I have quit Comodo but its the same thing.

thank you for any help, this has been driving me crazy!!

Why do I get this message when I try to go to NBT Banks website: The page isn’t redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to nbtbank.com.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

I only get this on my laptop, my desktop works fine. The settings on both browsers are set the same.

Moin, I activated the HTTPS-only mode as I used the "https everywhere" plugin so far.

But, in a very special network segment for radio amateurs, the 44-network (ampr.org) encryption is not allowed. So is there a way to configure the HTTPS-only mode in a way to say ".... but not for 44.0.0.0/8?

i prefer one configuration than constantly clicking the "continue to http site" button for the next few years.

Thanks in advanced

if an extension requires an 'Access your data for all websites' permission then firefox requires me to choose either allow this extension to steal all my sensitive data, or not to use the extension at all.

for such cases, chrome allows me to choose when and where i prefer to allow the extension to see these data and when and where to restrict it from accessing them: Site access Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites you visit:

  • On click
  • On specific sites
  • On all sites

does firefox allow this somehow? i'd prefer to have an option to restrict such access in some cases by clicking the extension button, in some - by white or black listing specific sites (mostly whitelisting), and for some cases - do not restrict.

I recently was looking through my autofill addresses when I noticed a name that should not be there. Someone I do not know in some state that I do not live in. I quickly changed my firefox password and various passwords that may have been compromised.

My question is, how worried should I be? How did they get my password or access to a PC with my account active on it. Then why would they be so daft to save their name and address as the autofill?

Is there any way I can check when it was made or pass this on to Mozilla support?

Hi,

The privacy and security settings don't work on Firefox 88 on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS). Many sites will offer the option to 'Login with google/facebook/whatever' rather than creating a new account for that specific site. One really annoying (and dangerous) consequence of 'logging in with google' is that it remains logged in. So for example if I log in to non-google siteX using my google credentials and then hours later open gmail in a different tab I get straight through to my gmail inbox without having to supply any credentials (and indeed any other user of the same machine could do the same). Obviously this highly insecure and dangerous policy of keeping me logged in indefinitely is implemented by Google for their own agenda and has nothing to do with Firefox. The bug in Firefox is that when I clear all data to work around this google problem FIREFOX does not work as advertised. So to try to 'force' a logout from my Google account I go to Firefox -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies & Site Data -> Clear Data, after a few minutes of churning away at my harddrive Firefox informs me that 'Your stored cookies, site data, and cache are currently using 0 bytes of disk space.' For good measure I then hit the 'Clear History' button. After this I open a fresh tab and go to gmail and I get straight into my inbox, no credentials required, so clearly Firfox is NOT deleting all cookies etc and is mis-reporting that 0 bytes are being used. So, does anyone know where/how I should report this dangerous privacy bug ?

Thanks MH

Hello, I'm trying to add a secondary email address to my Firefox account but each time I try I get the following message: "Secondary email must be different than your account email" I'm not typing the same main email address, I'm actually trying to type another one. The only possible reason that comes to my mind is that the address I want to add is already used as a secondary address for another Firefox account (namely, the one I use at work). I don't know if it makes sense, but it's the only possible situation this address is to be already found. Any ideas why this happens and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

With all the releases of FF you would think there would be defense against floating videos. Try to research the topic on the Web and the answers are all over the map and nothing I have seen really works well. These are detaching/floating videos I refer to. Hint: the fix is NOT in about:config.

Probably the most annoying aspect of the Web -- not adequately addressed.

Firefox lost all my logins/passwords. This happened last year and now it happens again. I've tried to find the old logins.json file and of course it does not work with it. It is empty. I'm using linux and there is no problem with any antivirus, it is simply a Firefox 'classical' error!

WHY is this happening? What is in the mind of the programmer responsible for this error? I can't understand why is he unable to keep a single file intact?

Why Mozilla is blaming the user for not having a backup. Firefox is messing this file, not the user! Why don't you fix Firefox and stop blaming the user? Why don't you simply FIX THE PROBLEM? You are "working on it" for years. Is it rocket science to JUST LET THE FILE ALONE?

Hi Firefox In one of the updates I lost all my saved passwords. I responded "no" to access the saved passwords in one of the updates, afraid of giving some external hackers access to them, not knowing that I would lose them all. Is there any way to get the lost passwords back? Is there any files on my hard disc where these are stored? I hope that you can help me.... With Regards

I was using an unprotected wifi for about 3 days and now I have unknown programs running and sometimes commond prompt boxes suddenly poping up and dissapearing. I'm nolonger using the computer and I'm changing all my passwords just in case. (not getting FF to remember them)

But there are unknown usernames and passwords in my synced passwords. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/930340 Does this mean the hacker has all my FF passwords and can access it anywhere and anytime if I change them is sync? Should I make a new Sync account?

I'm looking for non-social Firefox edition or version. I want to follow the latest FF updates, but without any integrated services like social spyware and any other kind of malware. Options disable / enable are not sufficient to be safe and security in Firefox is corrupted by social API.

Social services and features must be implemented only as a simple optional extensions and nothing more.
