I manage a website (melissachappell.com), which has pdf articles in an iframe on the html page. After the latest update (on 07/08/2015) PDF's are now downloading to my downloads folder instead of opening on the page as intended. I don't like this because 1) it clogs up my downloads folder and 2) the page looks weird now because the iframe is blank. Is there any way to change this to have the PDF open on the page instead (as it did before)?

A weird one. I'm using Windows (7 or 8.1) and Firefox 40.0.3 – some setting must be screwed up.

When I click on some links on The Australian news website, it goes to that page, and automatically opens an associated PDF. This is a recent problem, on both my computers.

How can I stop this?

Thanks

When I used to click on a PDF file, it would automatically open in my default PDF viewer. Now it askes me to save even though I have set in preferences that PDF should be opened automatically with my PDF viewer.

Now I have to wait for it download, then click on it again. I do not want these files saved permanently, they should save to the %temp% directory and be automatically opened in the default program. Please tell me what I need to do to get this working again.

Thank you!

I scanned a document using an HP Officejet 4630 Series, connected via USB to my Acer Aspire 5920. I intent to send that document as an attachment but when I do this, the file open as a firefox file and open in a tab and this address; file:///C:/Users/ADMINYO/Documents/Scan0001.pdf. The file properties, in the Type of fileline identify it as Firefox HTML Document (.pdf). But again, the printer is USB connected. In a second try, I turned off both the printer and the Laptop Wifi features having the same results. Any sugestion? Thanks.

I was looking at images in an email, (PDF) and firefox was running 339,600K and froze my system. Is this typical? It just kept happening I waited, however the screen turned gray (with the email showing beneath) and after about 15 min I decided that was long enough and refreshed the browser (or the little circle arrow). Then I was able to begin again, but it kept happening about every third image. Thanks in advance for your advise

Hi,

I have one problem.

In firefox v.41, when I previewed a pdf, if the pdf had a links inside, there was no problem, but from I updated Firefox to v.42, the links don't work. In fact, when I click in the link, it doesn't do anything.

The problem is, I manage a web with some norms in Spain and this is a important problem for our users.

The document is http://www.codigotecnico.org/images/stories/pdf/seguridadIncendio/DccSI.pdf (Page.32)

Thanks in advance.

A number of months ago, using a previous FF version, I noticed that I could no longer open or download Adobe PDF files. No error, no blank screen, nothing - the only evidence of reaction to my mouse click is that the Adobe symbol on the page would disappear and turn into a circular progress bar (the usual reaction) but instead of anything coming up, the Adobe symbol would return. Nothing opened, nothing downloaded. I would check "Show all Downloads" and there would be none for the session. I spent an hour or two searching for advice (variations of this problem appear to be common) but nothing suggested there helped. Eventually I just gave up and reset FF back to its default settings. Everything worked fine after the reset, although I don't know how often I used it after that (but I'm pretty sure at least 5 or 10 times, successfully). Since then I know that I've had at least one, maybe more, FF install updates (automated, not by me). As of today I'm back where I started from - the same reaction when I click the link (momentary circular progress bar) but no view, no download, no blank page, no error message. I've repeated my 1+ hour help search online today (like before) to no avail. I assume I could reset to factory defaults but that is going to be a recurring waste of time, given how often FF updates, if that is the only solution. Surely there is SOMETHING I can change inside FF (or elsewhere) without always having to do a full reset (and lose any changes I've made). Here is my info regarding system and software and settings: Dell Laptop Windows 10 Firefox 43.0.3 Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Version 2015.009.20079 Up-to-Date Kaspersky license

As for my FF options and add-ons, I've tried every variation under the sun. In Options/Preferences/Applications I've set PDF Files to every available choice, including Save File, Preview in Firefox, Always Ask, Use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (default) and Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox). Nothing worked. Under Add-Ons/Plug-Ins I have Adobe Acrobat 15.9.20069.28170 installed and I've set that to either "Always Activate" or "Ask to Activate," to no avail. Be aware that every time I've changed one of these settings and tried to download a PDF, the reaction was ALWAYS BEEN exactly as described in the opening description in this email - no variation in response to changes to any of the Add-On settings or the any of the settings for the Application Preferences for PDF files.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. For now I'll just have to go to IE.

Bob

For some reason, Firefox is now not displaying parts of the page correctly. I've noticed this mostly in my Wordpress Jetpack stats, but as I've gone around the web, it's been doing the same with PDFs as well. Videos and regular images are fine.

Here are some sample images. These are supposed to be JetPack stats, you should see line graphs, but it just looks like you changed the TV channel to a non-operating signal.

http://queenoftherandomjob.com/Jetpack-Nerds.jpg http://queenoftherandomjob.com/Jetpack-TOM.jpg http://queenoftherandomjob.com/Jetpack-QRJ.jpg

Here's what I see on a PDF: http://queenoftherandomjob.com/Bernie.jpg And the actual link to the PDF: https://berniesanders.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Wall-St-Letter-1.pdf

I spoke with Jetpack and they said it definitely was a browser issue...I have checked in Safari and Opera and everything is rendering fine there. PDFs, Wordpress...no issue.

This issue started just last week, and I haven't installed or changed anything. Everything was fine in the morning, and then in the evening, it went all wiggy. I do not have Avast anti-virus (this seems to be the culprit in other people's issues,) and I'm on a Macbook. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, cleared the cache, etc. I'm still having issues.

If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

When I open a PDF from our web site, I notice the browser tab displays the name of the Adobe InDesign indd file, but sometimes it displays wrong info that is not related to the filename. It displays info related to a different indd file. I don't see the information in the indd metadata.

This is FF 61.0.2 (64 bit)

Where is the browser tab getting its info from?

I would like to use the Nitro PDF viewer plugin as I view hundreds of PDFs a week in my browser. Often, I will email the PDF with a quick link. Now that the ability to view PDFs in the browser is limited to the built-in Firefox PDF viewer, you will need to upgrade it's capabilities to meet the flexibility of the other PDF plugins that can no longer be used with Firefox. Nobody wants to be forced to save every PDF to their drive, and then go find it and open it in their 3rd party viewer to view it properly or email it off.

Please add an "Email PDF" button, as well as an "Open PDF" (with the default PDF viewer) button to the integrated Firefox PDF interface.

Thank you, Joe

Hi there, since some days i encounter problems with downloading pdf-files. I tried this link http://personendatenbank.germania-sacra.de/books and tried to download a file by clicking "PDF" at any of the links there. I wouldn´t work. I see the download in the history (strg-j) but there is no progress. I encountered the same problem at another site.

Is there a problem with downloadlinks beginning with http:// ???

In Chrome for example the link works without any problems
