There are some pop-ups I cannot stop.

Naturally, I have clicked “stop pop-ups” in the Privacy and Security section of Firefox Settings. That has worked but not quite. I keep getting some “via l-itineraire.com”. That’s a website I used during a recent holiday in France.

So I installed Block Site.

That has an option called “Block a new host name”. I entered “l-itineraire.com.” and clicked Add. This has had no effect. The pop-ups still arrive from them.

I know there’s an option to open the website and get into the Firefox toolbar, but that’s defeated me. Yes I managed to get to click Menu, but not beyond. Anyway, that should not be necessary – after all I’ve clicked no pop-ups.

I have tried multiple Firefox Extensions for saving images instead of using the default Right-click "Image Save as" function, so reduce steps. All of the extensions have the same issue. When the filename already exists, there is no failure but instead a (1) is appended to the end of the file name. No message/prompt either to skip/cancel. It just silently appends. And (2) (3) and so on.

Is this a limitation of the Firefox WebExtensions API? Is it not possible to return a verbose failure for existing filenames?

My computer has been having some problems lately: Any rough handling might trigger the computer to shut off instantly or restart automatically. This is likely a hardware issue, probably a loose battery or something. The Firefox-related issue is that sometimes, upon turning the computer back on, something odd happens to my browser session: It is set back to three months earlier. The recent browsing button show everything having been browsed three months ago; but when I check my history, all my most recent tabs are there. This is tedious whenever it happens, as I have to spend about an hour manually opening everything I've lost (that I want to keep) from history. If there's a way to bulk re-open a bunch of tabs, I don't know how. All that has become something of a routine annoyance (it happens maybe once every two months) but I'd gotten used to it and it wasn't really an urgent problem. Today, however, I dropped my phone on my laptop, triggering a restart and a blue screen with a message that said something like "we're cleaning things up for you." It's what usually happens when I drop something on or accidentally elbow my thinkbad. (More commonly I move my computer a little bit and it just shuts off completely, goes black.) Before this happened I was due a firefox update, and I found it had done so when I turned my computer back on. I realised immediately that I had lost some tabs, and I assumed that it was just a three month setback. Upon opening my recent browsing though, I found out with horror that I'd been set back nine months. I cannot restore from a nine month period manually. I don't have the time, energy or willpower. I'm asking here if anyone knows how to bulk restore tabs from history or how to restore my session to how it was just a few hours ago. Thanks

Sometimes a box pops up on the screen that asks if I want to block or allow something. Sometimes I have no interest in doing either, and just want the damned dialog out of my face. The page seems to work otherwise, but the stupid browser keeps the dialog over top of things, and clicking outside of it, and hitting Esc, don't make it go away. I think those actions used to work, and I think there, sensibly, used to be a dismiss option, but that seems to be absent now. There's no sense to trying to force me to make a decision I don't want to make, and doesn't even need to be made, and I want this thing to cut it out.

Hello, all the sudden, news site comments don't show and after research here I learned it might be enhanced protection tracking settings. I tried all the settings and nothing seems to work well (not tech savvy). Strict = user comments blocked and all the other settings allow so many ads they cover content and/or there are a hundred on a page. On a desktop. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hello. I have an issue with Firefox. Last week Facebook stopped showing images when run on Firefox. These are in the Feed and photos, etc. I tried refreshing, clearing cookies, history and cache. I changed enhanced tracking but nothing stops this. Are there any suggestions to repair this or could it be a bug? I work on Windows 10. Please help.

I am trying to configure Firefox on macOS to not prompt the user to make it the default browser.

I am using the following script to create the profile and set the user preferences after installing Firefox by copying `Firefox.app` from the downloaded DMG: ```

  1. !/bin/sh

open -a Firefox.app --args -CreateProfile default sleep 1

write_userpref() { USER=$(whoami) PROFILE=$(ls -1 "/Users/${USER}/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/" | grep -E "\.default$") cat << EOF > "/Users/${USER}/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/${PROFILE}/user.js" // mandatory comment? user_pref("app.update.auto", false); user_pref("app.update.disable_button.showUpdateHistory", false); user_pref("app.update.enabled", false); user_pref("breakpad.reportURL", ""); user_pref("browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.topsites", false); user_pref("browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.feeds.section.topstories", false); user_pref("browser.tabs.crashReporting.sendReport", false); user_pref("browser.discovery.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.defaultbrowser.notificationbar", false); user_pref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", false); user_pref("browser.shell.didSkipDefaultBrowserCheckOnFirstRun", false); user_pref("browser.shell.skipDefaultBrowserCheckOnFirstRun", true); user_pref("browser.newtabpage.enabled", false); user_pref("experiments.enabled", false); user_pref("extensions.pocket.enabled", false); user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.enabled", false); user_pref("update_notifications.enabled", false); EOF }

write_userpref

open -a Firefox.app --args -new-tab -P default "about:blank" sleep 3 osascript -e 'quit app "Firefox"' sleep 2

open -a Firefox.app --args -P default about:blank ```

Here's the behaviour I'm seeing:

  1. Firefox starts to an `about:blank` tab, however there is a second "Firefox Privacy Notice" tab
  2. AppleScript quits Firefox
  3. Firefox starts to an `about:blank` tab, however it is now prompting me to make it the default browser

I do not want Firefox to prompt the user to become the default browser.

My ideal scenario is that Firefox starts without the "Firefox Privacy Notice" tab and without prompting me to make it the default browser. From the observed behaviour, this doesn't seem possible.

Can anyone tell me how I can accomplish this without user interaction or MDM?

Hey there. To get straight to the point, whenever I am watching a YouTube video on Firefox in full screen, every so often the screen goes black then slowly fades back in. I have no idea how to fix this issues and it is not my computer that is causing it (doesn't happen on other browsers, my computer was tested for a variety of problems and nothing was wrong, etc). I have also looked through Firefox Reddit help pages and the support articles on the Firefox support website but have found nothing to help. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated! I need to go over the head of the Mozilla Triage manager who has left https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1406865 open without a resolution for **seven years**. How do I do that? This is a bug reported in Firefox 57 and **still** not fixed in Firefox 125. I cannot find any support category anywhere in the Mozilla website that covers appealing a decision by one of their employees. The last comment from this uncooperative indivisual is "But given we support it on macOS and Windows yeah, it seems not very objectionable." Who is this **clerk** to override the fact that a number of customers very much find this "objectionable". I cannot find anything on https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contact/ that addresses this issue. I cannot find even a surface mail address for Mozilla. For example my complaint has nothing to do with any of the following:

I’m having problems with using Firefox
I want to donate to Mozilla
I have questions about using Mozilla’s trademarks
I’d like to report misuse of a Mozilla trademark
I want to hold an event in a Mozilla space
I want Mozilla to sponsor my event
I’d like permission to use a Mozilla logo
I’m interested in Pocket’s sponsored content on Firefox
I’m a member of the Press and have a question for Mozilla

Yes I am having a problem with Firefox, but the clerk responsible has, through sitting on this issue for **seven years**, basically told the entire community that he doesn't give a reservoir.

In particular I feel this unacceptable behaviour should be brought to the attention of senior management, but there are no contacts for anybody in senior management.

I have made Firefox my default browser, and set Google as my default search engine.

I'd like to keep it that way, BUT ...

Every morning when I come to work and open my browser and begin to search .. Yahoo comes up .. or Bing ???? I delete them, and again set Google as the default ... BUT FIREFOX CONTINUES TO REVERT TO YAHOO, or BING SEARCH RESULTS  ?!?!?!?!?!?

Even when I deliberately open Google and search in Google .. the results appear and then suddenly, a new window pops up with Yahoo results, covering up the Google results????

How can I make Firefox respond to the default search setting I choose????

This is intolerable. If I can't get ride of Yahoo and Bing and all these other inferior search engines, then I'm going to go back to using Chrome.

Firefox can't seem to hold on to, say, a banking website or web page when I navigate away to another app, such as to answer the phone!

I'll be on a banking website, and when I get back to Firefox from the call 1 minute later, it will greet me with the login credentials page.

If I'm trying to login, and I'm on the 2fa page, and I answer the phone call to get the code, when I get back to Firefox, I'm no longer on the 2fa page, I'm back on the login credentials page.

If I'm trying to log in, and I'm on the 2fa page, and I navigate to the email app to get the code, when I get back to firefox, I'm no longer on the 2fa page, I'm back on the login credentials page.

The situation forces me to use text messaging for 2fa when using Firefox.

I tried recreating the situation in the Chrome browser, and it doesn't seem to suffer from this problem. I navigate away to the email app, come back to Chrome, and I'm still on the 2fa page.

The situation exists for most banking sites, but is not exclusive to only banking sites, as it occurs on many other types of websites, as well, requiring 2fa logins.

Is there some setting in Firefox that I'm overlooking that causes these websites to default back to their login credentials pages just because I went to another app on the phone for a second?
