I noticed in the last firefox update, when you right click on a link, the letter associated with opening a link in a new window has changed from W to D. Is there any way to change this back easily? Honestly, I can probably get used to it but it's just an annoying change, and a curiously illogical one. There's nothing else that uses that particular letter in the standard right-click menu so the change seems bizarre.

Hello:

Quite a few iterations of Firefox ago (cannot recall which), the orientation of the drop down menu listing the bookmarks inside any folder in the toolbar was either towards the 'left' or towards the 'right', depending of the amount of screen real estate available to the right side of the screen where it was opened.

If the listing could not be properly seen by opening the drop down menu towards the 'right', it would be opened towards the 'left'.

This worked perfectly well with my three screen setup, with Firefox in a window in the centre screen. ie: Firefox knew it was inside a three screen wide setup and in the centre screen, so it also "knew" that the right edge of the centre screen was the limit for available screen real estate.

At some time this stopped working in the described manner.

It seems that Firefox now ignores the right edge of the centre screen and as a result the drop down menu for any folder in the toolbar opens to the 'right' and invades the right screen. (see attached screen capture)

If Firefox is opened in a window inside the right screen, it proeprly recognises the right edge of the screen as the limit and acts accordingly.

This is quite a problem for me: I make intensive use of the toolbar with bookmarks inside folders and subfolders and this heavily affects my everyday work.

Is there a way to get back to how it used to be? ie: Firefox using the right edge of the screen it is opened in as the limit to open a drop down menu.

Thanks in advance,

S.

Problem starts when "Page Size" isn't shown at all (it doesn't exists.. not empty or anything). Why? and how can I see it?.

Attached screenshot of what I see.

Thank you.

I started Firefox yesterday and saw a message about not having been on for some time - which rang alarm bells for a daily user! Having time today to investigate, it seems that it's lost 6 months of history and bookmark changes (I'm only offered January or today!) Is there a way of recovering all that history (very helpful) and this Tuesday's bookmark set? Thanks Stephen

Since a few days, Firefox pops up the Primary Password dialog every few hours.

I use a primary password since years, and this never happened before. Usually it asks for the primary password at startup and then never again. I don't use Sync.

What could it be? A change in version 90 that I updated to a few days ago?

I see on reddit other people reporting the same problem.

I am on MacOS Mojave (10.14.6). I have a few different installations of Firefox for different purposes and I'd like them each to display the custom name I've given them by renaming their filename (e.g. changing Firefox.app to something like YouTubeViewer.app). This causes the installation of Firefox to show in my app switcher and elsewhere in the OS as "YouTubeViewer", however when I run YouTubeViewer.app, Firefox still displays "Firefox" in the upper left-hand corner as the application name.

I tried editing the .plist file for each installation to change the value for key CFBundleName from "Firefox" to "YouTubeViewer", but that causes that installation of Firefox to no longer run. I believe this is due to the code-signing and pre-run validation done by the OS.

So, is there any way to get the custom name to display or is just not possible?

Hello.

90.0.2 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.

I noticed a lot of activity from my desktop computer to various ip's at bc.googleusercontent.com whenever I start, visit sites, or shut down firefox. I know this because I'm watching the tcp stream with tcpdump | grep 'googleusercontent'

This ONLY happens in Firefox not chrome or other browsers. Seeing this is a fresh install with no addons, tweaks, etc. I'd like to know WHY a fresh install of Firefox phones home to some googleusercontent user. See below snippet of logs:

Firefox for Windows make major change in Toolbar in version 89 upgrade: New in version 89: Say hello to a fresh new Firefox, designed to get you where you want to go even faster. We’ve redesigned and modernized the core experience to be cleaner, more inviting, and easier to use. Beginning in 89, you’ll notice a number of changes, including: Simplified browser chrome and toolbar: Less frequently used items removed to focus on the most important navigation items. How do I avoid Firefox deleting lesser used links in my Toolbar? They are there for a reason.

Hi! When I adjust a volume (Ej. 30%) elsewhere, when change the focus to Firefox browser, the volume automatically raised to 100% no matter if the page or pages are in blank or with content. And when I change to other application, the volume is back to original state (in this case 30%). Yes, it changes system volume, not the app volume. Searched all over internet and couldn't find solution.

Tried: - Deactivate all sound enhancement. - Deactivate sound lowering in call. - Change sound card (realtek to Nvidia) - Change output (back panel, front panel) - Updated drivers - Unplugged periphericals - Deactivate Control media via keyboard, headset, or virtual interface - Changed media.default_volume in about:config Nothing works

This only happen with Firefox and Chrome browsers. Microsoft edge, games and other multimedia apps has not problem.

I am using AMD Ryzen 5600X Asus TUF b550m 16GB RAM

Firefox 90.0.2 Windows 10, Version 20H2, Build 19042.1110

Hope we could find a solution. This is very annoying when using a headset. Regards

I know this is an old issue. I'm getting it now, FF 90.0.2 64-bit, Windows 10 Pro N, Build 19041.vb_release.191206-1406. System updated. Not very often it starts playing for a fraction of a second. Videos and GIFs everywhere else (as far as places I normally go) plays as it should. Troubleshoot mode didn't solve it; hardware acceleration tweak neither. No crash logs.

Tried on the Edge and everything is fine.

Question: does the suggested "fix" on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-video-audio-problems-firefox-windows embraces this issue as well? If so, sorry, but might be time to change browsers. The reason I'm using Windows 10 PRO ->N<- is exactly not to have to remove Windows Media Player and related "bloat" from my system. This isn't one of those crybaby threats I hate to read: it's a necessity.

I must ask: why on Edge, on the same machine, the same problem doesn't exist as in Firefox.

Suggestion for mentioned article: might be helpful point users (also) to the right place of The Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10, on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231

Thanks

The recent update by Microsoft and Firefox totally screwed up my computer. It is so slow to respond with constant iterations of "Program Not responding" that it is completely unusable in most cases. It crashed Thunderbird and I lost many years of data and email that is completely unretrievable. I do not want EDGE or anything to do with it, but Microsoft has made plain their intent to force it on me by making nothing work . Is there a fix without going yo Linux?
