Hello,

I am reporting a performance issue specifically related to Google Search's AI features (AI Overviews) in Firefox 149.0.2 on macOS.

The Issue: When an AI-generated summary appears in Google Search results, GPU usage spikes significantly, reaching up to 212%. This causes the laptop to overheat and triggers high fan speeds.

Critical Comparison:

Firefox 149.0.2: Extreme GPU load and performance degradation when rendering Google AI elements.

Google Chrome 147.0.7727.56: Works perfectly with normal GPU usage under the same conditions.

Tested on two different MacBooks: MacBook Pro (A1502), 16GB RAM, i7 (2015) — OS: macOS Monterey. MacBook Pro (MMQX3), 64GB RAM, M1 Max (2021) — OS: macOS Sequoia (15.x/Tahoe).

Every time I accidentally close Firefox I lose all my saved groups on reopening. I can see they are still there but cannot see how to open them. They are such a great innovation. Please make it easier to restore them from previous sessions. Going through a search history and restoring them one by one is hugely time consuming when they are already there and just inaccessible. btw, I tried using scrounger (via troubleshooting) but the "Save List" is greyed out.

Running on Mac OS 15.6.1

History drop down-Restore Previous Session MENU OPTION AND Recently Closed Windows MENU OPTION tab choice ARE DARK!!! Not active!!! Why? (If they are there to be seen they should always be active for use)

I use these ALL THE TIME!! Where is that function??? Why is MY history from yesterday NOT there for me?? I need it right now!

My life is busy and stressful enough without Firefox or Apple or Microsoft adding to it!!!

btw am waiting full 5+ min for a simple screenshot to "upload" to Firefox help below so I can hit send on this?? Still see the word "uploading" - are you finished yet Firefox?

Also McAffee notification with all these popups stating that my McAffee protection expired yesterday - I have never had a McAffee notification for a virus or pair for protection from them. Popups are happening every 10 seconds continuously! looks like about 20 or more popups describing different problems with 20 digit numbers and letters as a serial number of the problem!

Just updated my Firefox. I had a huge tab group saved, and tons of bookmarks. I've been using firefox for months, I didn't have an account signed in on the browser though. I updated it and it had to restart, and everything was gone when it reopened. I even clicked that it should reopen tabs after restarting, but it just opened to tell me to make a profile. It told me that they just introduced profiles, and it put me on profile 1, which looked brand new. No browsing history whatsoever, no bookmarks, my background that I set is gone, and I cannot find anythign at all. I had over 50 bookmarks, inclyding very imprtant links for a final paper, and I'm genuinely so upset. Multiple of those bookmarks were things for me to go back to read/watch later and I will literally not be able to find them. If anyone has any tips at all, I'd love them. I am so seriously upset right now and I'm just hoping its possible for that to come back.

My instagram does not open on my firefox browser. I have cleard all the cookies and cashes. I tried Incongnito, hot spot sharing. I have tried everything its still not working. Can you help me?

I just updated my browser less than a week ago. Today I got another notification for yet another update. This logs me out of everything.

WHY so many and so frequent are firefox browser updates. I am about to stop using this brower if it continues. It's very disruptive!
