Hi, I said most of it in the title. Somehow, my Firefox DisableAppUpdate policy got set to 'true' & when I try to change it Firefox says sorry "this is managed by your organization". But I'm not currently signed in to an enterprise network. This is on private wi-fi. Can you all fix this? I need to be able to manage policies like this *for my personal browser*, less is not okay. Thank you for your help.

Firefox crashes randomly during video playback. I've submitted over 10 crash reports. Here's the two latest crash report (which includes my device's hardware information): https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/81eb1750-1dd0-490d-9eb1-d3c2c0250224 https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/6682a7f2-836a-4365-938e-c9ab20250224

I'm on Fedora 41 + gnome, but this issue persisted even in Windows 11, which caused BSOD therefore I made the switch to linux (At least in linux it doesn't crash the whole system, only firefox). If you need any additional information let me know. I can run journalctl/dmesg if required.

I've already tried things like restarting in safe mode (troubleshoot mode), refreshing firefox etc. Didn't work.

Thanks in advance!

When I was previously using Firefox in Kubuntu 22.04, if I downloaded something I could go to the Downloads icon and click on the download and it would open in the desired application. After a failed upgrade to 24.04 I had to do a reinstall and now in Kubuntu 24.04, if I click on a downloaded file it will always bring up a window with "Open the file link with okular?" and the buttons Cancel and Open Link below. How do I go back to the previous way of it working?

For that, I read the article "Install Firefox on Linux" and followed the install instructions in first chapter "Debian-based distributions" step-by-step. (article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux)

Unfortunately, with every attempt to install Firefox, the Firefox LinuxMint (Ubundu) package will be still installed. The command to priorise the Mozilla Repository seems to have no influenace.

How can I prevent/avoid to use the LinuxMint/Ubundu repository? I wan't to install and update Firefox direct from Mozilla source.

I'm using Linux Mint 22.1 Xia base (Ubuntu 24.04 noble)

Greetings.

I am using an old Linux Mint version. I got messages that my Firefox needed to be updated.

I finally figured out how to do that and updated it. I started to use it. No problems.

However, the update did not change the default Firefox in the menu or on the taskbar panel below. If I click on them, I get the old version.

So when I restarted the computer, when I clicked on the Firefox shortcut icon in the lower taskbar I got the old version with the tabs that were on it. I had to go back into the Firefox file downloaded for the update in order to open the new version.

So, how do I get a working shortcut icon for the new version and get rid of the old version/icon?

Thanks.

David

Hello everyone,

I recently reinstalled my Linux system, Parrot OS, which comes with Mozilla Firefox. Unfortunately, I forgot my Firefox password, which forced me to reset it to log in.

Since this reset, Firefox no longer loads my bookmarks, extensions, or saved accounts.

Does anyone have suggestions for recovering this data? Is there a way to find my old profiles or backup files?

Thank you in advance for your help!

The visual and audio notifications for incoming emails being posted to the inbox of gmail under Mozillia Firefox do not function correctly when ran on a Linux Mint operating system computer.

I can get the visual notifications to work as long as the Firefox is open but once that session is closed the visual notifications are no longer issued, i.e. the setting to issue those notifications are not being saved upon closing of the browser.

I can get the audio notifications to work on a sporadic basis. I go into the settings on gmail and choose one of the audio sound notification choices and it works a few times when income emails are received into the inbox, but then just stops even if the current firefox/gmail session is still open.

My theory is that those firefox/gmail settings are not getting preserved/saved in proper manner to be available for subsequent sessions of firefox/gmail because firefox/gmail does not understand the FILE STRUCTURES of Linux Mint Mate so that those settings can be properly preserved for use by subsequent sessions of firefox/gmail.

Please consider fixing this.

Thanks.

Hi - I wanted to migrate all my changes made in the flatpak app to the aur version. I noticed the profile content has a different structure in both - aur and flatpak configs. And any attempts to replace profile content with the other resulted in browser ignoring these and initing new config files. Was wondering if my config can be ported over or thats not possible thanks.

Hello,

Moving from an older Ubuntu 18.04 machine where Firefox is limited to version 113 to a newer machine running Mint 22 where the current version is 134.

I know how to transfer the profiles but I could not find any information on compatibility.

Would I need to install other versions before 134 to handle any changes?

Thank you

When I attempt to use Firefox autofill for address/credit card/etc, Linux will prompt for Root password. After entering root password, everything freezes. I have no access to mouse or keyboard and my entire OS become unresponsive. Besides the hangup, my firefox tabs randomly crash as well with the following bug tag: https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/3020d645-af46-4821-bbfc-e4d680250213. I don't know if the two are related, but both eventually lead my my OS freezing with only hard power down. Every time I try to use autofill, it freezes my OS. I can keep replicating the issue.
