Top menu (minimize/maximize/close buttons) is missing
In the main Inbox view of Thunderbird, everything above the tabs is missing. It is transparent, but the area is still part of the Thunderbird window and clicking it keeps the focus in that window. I am running 24.3.0. I have encountered two possible fixes for this (one was related to themes, but I'm using the original theme, the other was to hit toggle fullscreen - in my case, F11 appears to be disabled or broken), but haven't been able to solve the problem. I am running Windows 7 Pro SP1, x64
Chosen solution
For anyone else experiencing this bug (Matt, it is a bug - nearly all Windows apps should have at the very least a red 'X' close button and Thunderbird is no expection), the problem was resolved when I updated to 24.4.0 (Win 7 SP1)
Thanks for taking the time to respond, guigs2 and Matt.

Hi maikens55, I am sorry to hear that disabling themes and toggling full screen did not resolve this issue. Thunderbird FAQ
- Go to View > Toolbars
- Select the toolbar that is missing
- Or click customize...
Typically though, there are no toolbars above the tabs in version 23. What version are you running?
I'm not familiar enough with windows UI terms to know what it's called, but the top menu, which is part of all windows apps, is supposed to always be at the top (Minimize, Maximize, and Close). I have been able to intermittently fix the issue by moving the window from one monitor to the next, but it's not a consistent fix. I am running version 24.
There is nothing above the tabs in Thunderbird! Since the adoption od Australia about a year ago the default has the tabs and minimize and maximise buttons appear in the same "row" Have you been using the rise of the tools add-on which places the menu bar above the tabs?
Is the result the same if you restart with Add-ons disabled from the help menu (alt +H). That will also disable any theme you use and may cause these types of issues.
