All my appearances broke after the upgrade to version 20.0.1, how do I fix this?

I now get a dull grey title area where before my appearances was showing up. This happens no matter what appearance I select. Including the default one.

Is there a master setting that turns this feature on/off?

This was updating from 19 to 20, I assume, not from 20.0 to 20.0.1.

I think it could be related to the bug with "permanent" (or automatic) private browsing mode. This thread has a thorough discussion: Themes no longer function since auto update to firefox 20.

If that's not the problem, we'll have to consider other possibilities.
