i've been using Firefox since FF12 (now ff19) and every time i use a search function on a site eg winehq and select a link from the results then click on the back button i am immediately hit with the Document expired page and have to click on try again then resend regardless of the browser.sessionstore.postdata setting which is currently at -1, i have searched for an answer and it seems that many users of firefox have the same problem and all given the same answer to set the browser.sessionstore.postdata to -1 which clearly does not work. Please give us a way to turn off this annoyance.

Well it seems after a week and no reply that Mozilla are either not monitoring the Support Forums or they are blatantly so stuck in there "we know what's best" ways that they cannot even post a simple response to the problem which clearly when googled is widespread throughout regardless of the platform used.

Now that i have FF20 the problem is still there unfixed. if it wasn't for the fact that some plugins are not available for other browsers or that flash has problems with chrome i would have switched a long time ago.

Are you blocking any cookies?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

No i am not blocking cookies, current cookie settings are set to allow all cookies.

This problem has existed for many years regardless of platform or cookie settings i have used firefox for many years on both windows and linux with each with different profiles.

also as it seems setting browser.sessionstore.postdata to any value including -1 makes no difference and changing the cookie settings makes no difference either

That setting should only have effect if you close and restart Firefox.
If it happens without closing Firefox then there is another problem.

Did you try a new profile?

Then at least you know if it is a problem with your current Firefox profile folder.

Well i did a test by creating a testuser account which also created a new FF profile i set the postdata setting to -1 closed and restarted the browser, i then went to one of the sites i know i get this problem and still i get Document expired after using the sites search function clicking on a few links from the results, then clicking on the back button and i am immmediately hit with the document expired screen.

So creating a new FF profile was a complete waste of time as i am still getting the same results which has plagued FF since at least FF9

I'm not seeing this issue on Linux when using the Back button on a www.winehq.org search results page.

Did you check the date and time in the clock on your computer?

Does it help to open a new private window?

more options

The time and date on my computer is fine unless winehq is set to a different Timezone as i'm in GMT+1

I tried using the private browsing mode but it made no difference

Again i went to winehq

clicked on Browse apps

entered some text into the search bar then clicked update filter selected a link from the search results

Then clicked on the back button and the Document expired screen appeared again, i have has this problem occasionally on other sites as well but winehq i've had this problem for as long as i've been using FF

I'm going to try and see if registering with the site and logging in will make a difference, but i have doubts about that.

I have the same problem and I don't see any fixes. Seems I need to find another browser that works with apple. Anybody know of one?
