Hello!

I can't use Netflix on my old Windows 7 machine. I'm sure my computer can handle the transcode but just in case - it runs an i3-2330M with 6GB of RAM. When I hover over a title, I can see the preview but when I click it, I end up with an error message. I run the latest Firefox version and have also restarted to check if it works but alas, to no avail.

I have attached an image below. Also, just in case, I have done the adjustments to Firefox's configuration from here.

All help would be appreciated!

PS. Not sure if this helps, but Firefox couldn't play Spotify either! When I open the web Spotify player, I can see my playlists and such, but when I click on any song/album/playlists's play button, it doesn't respond at all! I have resorted to using the app, but am mentioning just in case if it helps figure out the problem/for other users having the same trouble as me.

You can check for problems with preferences and probably undo all those changes as it is quite possible you messed up things. Changing arbitrary prefs because a website says you should do this is not a good idea as you can see by the warning you get if you open about:config.

You can delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

I saved the bookmarks and the passwords that I needed and completely "refreshed" Firefox.

Still the same - loads for a while then greets me with a error screen.

Did you get this issue with no extensions installed and without changes to cookie or other settings (i.e. the profile is still clean) ?

Note that using a refresh still can carry over issues and installing (content blocking) extensions even more easier.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Nope, still doesn't work.

What's frustrating is, it works on Chrome but I would rather not use Chrome, or maybe use it only for Netflix until the error is resolved.

I found a similar thread - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280120 and it looks like the problem was fixed after a while. I could downgrade my version but I don't think that's feasible. Doesid the Firefox update from v73 change something that doesn't let it work with my laptop?
