Hi jev, Firefox can open windows in regular and private modes. Private windows use a separate memory-based cache and cookie jar. However, private windows have other restrictions and of course don't save history. If you would prefer to have multiple separate regular contexts, you could take a look at using containers. More info in this article:

Multi-Account Containers

Firefox also can run multiple independent profiles simultaneously. Each profile has its own settings, data, add-ons, etc. If you don't need that level of separation (and extra setup), then containers probably make more sense for you. If you want to experiment with profiles, here's how you can take a look:

Adding a Profile

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Take a quick glance at the page and make a mental note of which Profile has this notation: This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is your current default profile.

Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like Nov2020, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

Firefox will switch your default profile to the new one, so click the Set as Default Profile button for your regular one to avoid an unwanted surprise at your next startup.

Scroll down to Nov2020 and click its Launch profile in new browser button.

Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system to avoid cross-contamination.

You can use this window for browsing in a default configuration.

When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Nov2020 will remain available for future use.)

Thanks for the help! Yeah, Containers is EXACTLY what i was trying to get to. So.........I created 4 new Profiles. Now.........how do i LAUNCH those separately. What I am driving at is......i need to login to 4 distinct AWS accounts, that without containers, would only allow me to ONE ACCT AT A TIME. I am hoping that with Containers, i can login to all 4 simultaneously. So, how do i kick that off?

Sorry if I didn't distinguish those two technologies clearly.

(1) Container tabs

You can use container tabs to log into a site with different credential even in the same window, no separate profile needed. Please see the help article I referenced before regarding the Multi-Account Containers extension. Even though the default containers have names like shopping and so on, when you create containers, you can give them names specific to your needs.

Container tabs are the more memory-efficient approach, and probably best if only a single server needs to be isolated.

(2) Profiles

The easiest way to launch Firefox in a separate profile is using the buttons on the about:profiles page. You can save different logins, bookmarks, and cookies in each profile. It is helpful to choose a different theme for each to be able to more easily distinguish them. (Add-on themes: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/themes/)

Running four independent instances of Firefox will use much more memory than containers, but may be simpler if multiple servers need a particular set of Amazon/AWS credentials.

Awesome! Thank you! I am now using containers! Perfect solution. I have 5 separate Containers setup now, and they work great. And I actually have them labeled AND color coded, so that helps. Question is: On my Windows box, when i hover over the 5 Windows in the taskbar, the windows ALL read: "Your applications - Mozilla Firefox". Is there anyway to CUSTOMIZE those window banners, so that each Container is unique, so that when i over over them, they can read something unique?

Firefox doesn't have a way to label different tabs or windows. That text is set in the page in the title tag:

<title>Your applications</title>

There are some add-ons to modify page titles, but I'm not sure how you would set it up to be specific enough, for example, would it need to find a username in the page or include the container name? Those might not be supported by the following so further searching probably is needed:

• https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-retitle/ -- can link a new title to a domain, or to a tab (if you plan to keep the tab open to the same site for a long period of time)
• https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/rename-tab-title/
• https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-mix-rename-tab/
