I can't get Tbird to point to old profile. I am moving to new laptop. Instructions are not very clear

I have attempted to follow instructions on pointing my Tbird install to profile and data folders from old laptop. I'm missing something. I don't seem to be able to point to folder not in Appdata\Roaming, nor can I figure out what name of the profile should be.

Not sure why this is so hard.

What do you mean have Thunderbird refer to an old profile? You want to transfer your profile to a new laptop?

Thanks for responding. I finally did edit on profiles.ini and removed profiles that were created by the install and other attempts to get it working.

My large inbox is empty though, the rest of my folders look ok.

Should I start another question for that?

I found the inbox file and moved in to correct folder. all good now
