So I relaunched the bad profile, connected it to the new Firefox account I'd had to set up when opening this support ticket, and told it to participate in sync. When it had completed the initial sync I closed it, restarted with a new profile, connected that to my account and told it to sync. Apart from mot replicating the pinning of some of my tabs, this has brought over my history, passwords, open tabs etc.

Keep in mind that the Beta update channel can have (temporary) issues and isn't guaranteed to be stable, so be prepared for issues and have a release version installed with its own profile for fallback.

There might be something wrong with the current one. Especially if it works in private mode. It isn't just add-ons that can break things...

You can manage profiles with these instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles#w_manage-profiles-when-firefox-is-open

Hopefully, that works. If it does, the simplest thing would be to migrate to a new profile and import/sync all your bookmarks and history over.
