I see that this issue has been addressed before in this community...however none of the replies made sense to me. Please... if you know how to fix this issue... reply with a clear description of it. Or at least send it to firefox....This forum is apparently the only way to resolve issues....since I have not found any way to directly contact Mozzilla/firefox.

Hi vviktur, do you mean .jfif ?

But if you rename the file with a .jpg extension after downloading it opens normally?

every way possible to rename the file type I know of has failed.

Where are the images coming from and how are you saving them? For example, if you right-click and Save Image As... on the following image, does it save as a JPG?

The image was saved to my picture folder as is normal....however it was posted there as a tfif type of file.

If you set Windows to always show all file extensions, does the file extension still change from .jpg to .jfif (or tfif ?) when saving?

Well this partially solved the problem.....I was able to save the file as a jpg type....with the name of the image plus the letters jpg....which means that to keep the image usable...whatever title I give the photo the letters .jpg must follow it....this is still not normal...as I saved hundreds of images without this requirement.

UPDATE...if I go back to folder options and re-check hide the extensions the files becomes normal...that is the title of the photo appears without the jpg letters....and it is a normal and usable photo.

Obviously this isnt normal...since I can save photos directly without the need to change folder options when using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge browsers

Did you check for issues with the MIME database key in the Windows Registry like I posted in this thread ?
