With my advanced years I spend far too much time browsing Imgur and Reddit but I like doing so - they're relaxing, informative, sometimes provocative sites and they suit me well. However of late there have been problems. Firefox (since it's the only browser I can use, thanks to Firefox seemingly blocking others) seems to be disabling most NSFW pictures and videos and now won't even play GIF links on those two sites. (Weirdly enough however I can watch porn on other sites, so where's the problem?) Sure, this might be a European setting but I can find no other information to help me unlock this setting so any information will be appreciated. And yes, I've emptied all my cookies, etc. but to no avail.

Is this with many websites, some, a few?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Content Blocking. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature:

Typically, since writing my question I'd investigated other sites (porn included out of curiosity) and discovered that NO videos would play on Firefox - that's a big 'down' from yesterday. Not even BBC videos or LiveLeak clips etc will play. What I can't find is the shield that's supposed to appear - I promise that there's just no sign of it at all on any site I've visited. Obviously I've been into the various settings and tried all kinds of variations but to no avail. Firefox seem to have chosen to preempt the government's plans.

What is odd though is that having finally found a way to download and reinstall Chrome (which I'd removed since Google had become 100% 'clean' despite all settings) I can now play all videos there. I can also see and run GIFs in Imgur and Reddit via Chrome. Firefox is now removed from my PC - I've had enough of that browser. Life really confuses me sometimes!
