I want to go back to a POP email, NOT IMAP. I just transferred all my emails to a LOCAL FOLDERS Inbox, and NOW EVERY one of my emails is gone! Very unhappy!

Please help. I am on Linux Mint, NOT WINDOWS. I Hate Windows. I never had an issue with Thunderbird until I realized a few days ago that this dog-gone IMAP is not allowing me to have an autonomous and completely separate email experience on my local PC.

I WANT to completely do whatever I want to email on my local PC WITHOUT it affecting my online email. I ALSO would appreciate that whatever I do locally is not synched with the email server. If I want to delete an email locally but keep it on the server, UNLESS I am on the server, I should be able to do whatever I want locally. I thought that was THE ENTIRE REASON for a local email client!!!!! I DON'T WANT local email to be synched with the email server from my ISP. I also thought that having a local email client meant my emails were downloaded so I can browse, sort, and deal with email locally without being online!!!! ARRGGHHHH...

SO, I thought that id I move all my INBOX emails to a LOCAL FOLDERS, "Inbox" folder, the problem would be solved. Wellllll, ALL of my freaking emails are gone!

Please help me, please. I am so upset with Thunderbird right now, I would really appreciate any help in retrieving my emails. I also want to revert back to a POP 3 email and dog-gone Thunderbirt is not showing an option to DO THAT!!

Then add your account as POP if that is what you want. It is an option in the account setup wizard if it is available on the server.

I appreciate your help. How can I get my emails back? I moved them all from INBOX to LOCAL FOLDERS > Inbox that I created, and as soon as I highlighted all 1700 emails and dragged and dropped them into the "Inbox" I created in the LOCAL FOLDERS section of Thunderbird, they all are now missing from both the server Inbox AND my LOCAL FOLDERS Inbox I created.

I had more or less the same problem! I tried to transfer 600 email from inbox on the IMAP server to a local folder and they completely disappeared. I'm very disappointed. This is a kind of error one can expect on version 0.1, not on 60.9.0!
