FF overwrites my typing

It happened a gazillion times: FF starts, I type a URL, then FF is done starting up and appends the URL field with the default page, which of course, does not work. So please, if I type in the URL field, don't overwrite what I am typing - I want to be the boss, not FF.

P.S. I have a fast machine, almost no AddOns, so it's not an issue of startup speed but of design. Happens on Mac and Windows.

Thanks for fixing!

Firefox does have a start up routine that looks to external servers to retrieve data, and if you type before that routine is complete and UI is ready for entry, whatever you type will be ignored. The first start up of each day will take longer than start ups done later in the day.

One thing you can do is to set your own choice for your Homepage, which for me seems to eliminate part of the start up routine. That would avoid Firefox looking for "Recommended by Pocket", "Highlights" and for "Snippets" info which loads on the default Homepage; or just de-select those items from showing via about:preferences#home under Firefox Home Content.

Try to press the ESC key before you start typing to see whether that helps.
