Hello YachtBoy,
Would you please take a look at this article :
This isn't a firefox issue. Please read what the link says.
Firstly, some content, mainly video, is only available in the UK due to rights restrictions. Secondly, our international visitors are shown advertising.

By pasting url I see bbc.co.uk page first a couple of seconds then it redirects to bbc.com Can such behaviour not be stopped by the browser already?
Even though I have a BBC account - as I am not located in the UK : no matter which browser I use, I get redirected to bbc.com .....
If, however, you are located in the UK (your original post suggests that you're not), would you check this preference on the 'about:config' page (type about:config in the address bar and press Enter) :
accessibility.blockautorefresh
(if you have to change the value, then close and restart Firefox)
If that doesn't make a difference, may I suggest to contact the BBC, as you don't seem to be happy with my first post ?

This is a server redirect and the server sends a location header in the HTTP response headers. This will always happen for HTTP to HTTPS although this likely happens because of HSTS.
The redirect from bbc.co.uk to bbc.com will happen if you aren't in the UK area. There is nothing that you can do about the latter apart from using a UK based VPN.
