thunder 60.0 does not look correct on my win7 computer

I have tried several times to download and install Thunderbird 60.0 now. I did not uninstall the older version i just updated over it. I did not want to uninstall it totally because i would lose all my drafts and contacts in address book. when i did install Thunderbird 60.0 over my existing 52.9.1

I lose my addon which I like and I get a page that comes up for a second before it gets to my in box. will send below for you to see what comes up. not sure I like the 60.0 version Is is Imperative that I update to 60.0? any way any help will do. I have contacted Just Answer on this problem and dell Tech support and no one has been able to help me.

Below is the page that comes up when I click on the Thunderbird icon on my desktop. Please respond my email ismdm54@comcast.net the page below shows what comes up for a second or 2 when I click on the desktop icon to open Thunderbird. Does not bring me directly to my in box I get htis page first then i get the inbox.

what operating system and type of pc and the specs. ram sometimes can lag out an install and are you installing from official download section of Mozilla family. do note old thunder birds can be found, at places such as cnet in turn a lot of those places really don,t check viruses and malware yes they say they do. but users tent to upload and do it as a vindictive behavior. i never trust places like them cause they do not monitor it all the time. maintaining clean installs You might try a clean install removing the old version. sometimes plugins have been updated and can cause fails for an install.

Doing a clean install riding of the old can be more clear but do note if the uninstall is not cleared you also can run appdata under the run command once uninstalled of the program on a windows, why would you? "with windows any updates can cause loss of active programs to operate properly' or you may have uninstalled a program that shared a file under Thunderbird win98 was good for that, Do full cleaning of old uninstalled programs no longer in system. do note not all uninstalls clean out there stuff left you dont see. you can run "appdata", go through and look for folders named thunder bird and Mozilla but don't remove Mozilla folder only the Thunderbird folder as you might have fiefox don't want to remove the full Mozilla folder in that case, you can also confirm removing of old install by running %programdata% remove thunder bird folder there as well same steps as explained. then re install the updated Thunderbird should run clean then make sure empty trash reboot before doing a new clean install of the new version of Thunderbird

ok thanks i'm on the 7 home prem i'm gonna install thunderbird 6.0 on this one i'm normally a linux user recently cause of windows issues lately. have you done recent updates to windows? but your doing an update correct? as i have seen a lot of issues occurring with this install or updating many are having issues not just you.

Great. The new version is 60. The Thunderbird program and your data are separate. You can remove the program and your data remains in your profile. I suggest you make a backup to your profile because that is a good practice anytime. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data Do Not get download from places like CNET unless you like extras thrown in. Go to getthunderbird.com and download the program.

Personally i would stick with the older version for a couple of weeks. I never upgrade before I see versions x.2 or x.3 so some of the startup bugs are fixed

i HAVE NOT INSTALLED ANY WINDOWS UP DATES FOR QUITE AWHILE. I GOT THE 6.0 UPDATE FROM THE THUNDERBIRD SITE. I JUST DO NOT LIKE IT NO ADDONS AND AS I STATED IT WAS NOT ACTING CORRECTLY WHEN I UPDATED OVER THE PREVIOUS VERSION. i DID NOT DELETE THE VERSION I HAD i TRIED TO DOWNLOAD OVER IT. AS I STATED I DID NOT WANT TO LOSE ALL MY ADDRESS BOOK OR ANYTHING IN MY DRAFTS FOLDER. I AM NOT COMPUTER SAVVY SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO BACK UP THAT INFO. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN SOMETHING IS WORKING AND NO COMPLAINTS THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES THEY THINK ARE BETTER

Did you bother to read any of this? You have the info you need about how to back up your profile and that your data is not with the program so you lose nothing. Hire someone local if you need help.

PC = Personal Computer. You can do anything you want. I never upgrade until the version numbers get to xx.2 or xx.3. By then the startup bugs are mostly gone.
