Deleted emails from Inbox are moved from All Mail to Trash on GMAIL server. But emails moved to local folder stay in All Mail. What setting gets these deleted?

Using Thunderbird 52.5.2 on Windows 10. Connecting to GMAIL IMAP account. Have Thunderbird server settings to move a deleted message to GMAIL->Trash folder. This works great; when I delete a message from my Inbox, it is deleted from the Inbox view and from All Mail, and I see it in Trash. Then in 30 days it is removed from the server. Perfect.

But when I instead move a message from my inbox to a local folder to keep, the message is removed from my inbox view, but remains in GMAIL->All Mail. Therefore, I assume it will never be deleted from the server. What is the Thunderbird or GMAIL setting (or both) that will cause emails moved to a local folder to be either immediately deleted from the GMAIL server All Mails folder, or moved to GMAIL Trash folder?
