I was once on Telus.net and I moved 3 years ago. I then went on to Shaw.ca and I am still on it. When I downloaded Thunderbird I got Telus and Shaw. I am not on Telus anymore so why am I getting it when I download Thunderbird? History: 4 years ago I did use Thunderbird but it never worked right so I deleted it.

I am on Shaw.ca and would very much like to use Thunderbird. I don't understand what's going on but it would be nice if we could find a fix for this problem. I am using windows 10. Than you bdmc12@shaw.ca Brian

re : History: 4 years ago I did use Thunderbird but it never worked right so I deleted it.

Thunderbird the program itself and Thunderbird profile folder containing all the details on mail accounts are two different things and the info is kept in different locations.

All profile data - emails, preferences, address books etc are kept here by default:

  • C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\

'Profile name' is usually called 'xxxxxxxx.default' where the x's are letters and numbers. Please note these are in the 'Appdata' folder which by default are hidden so you may need to make hidden files and fodlers visible first.

When you uninstall Thunderbird, it only uninstalls the program, leaving all your profile data intact. So I believe you uninstalled the program, but perhaps did not delete the AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird folder containing the old profile.

re : When I downloaded Thunderbird I got Telus and Shaw. When you later reinstalled Thunderbird and first ran it, it would seem to have picked up your old profile hence why you have the Telus.net info.
