in the address bar there is this strange letter as I described. When I click on it, the message that this address is not private, nor is it secure. Does that mean Mozilla is not secure????

hi jcm48162, for more general information about the i-icon see Site Information panel.

when it says that a page is not secure, it means that the page is loading through http:// and the connection is not encrypted, so there is no guarantee that the site's content wasn't altered by a third-party or intercepted while you accessed it...

since this is happening on the Mozilla Firefox site does that mean that Mozilla is unsecure? I've switched from Chrome to Firefox because I had this issue there, now is this condition prevalent with Mozilla also?

First Chrome and now Firefox - that would indicate a problem on your PC and not with a specific browser.

Screenshots and URL's of pages where you see that might be helpful.

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Three common reason why users have issues with https:// in browsers like Firefox. The date/time is wrong on the OS. Using a proxy.

The most common reason of late has been due to antivirus client on Windows trying to be helpful in keeping you safe by inserting its own certificate and instead causes connection problems with secure sites. People then blame a Firefox update or download when it was not a Firefox problem.

But since you have the issue with Chrome also it may be caused by another issue.

I found out this evening that both browsers have stopped supporting JAVA and since the site I was going to (MSN Free Games Online), from Chrome and Firefox, would indicate that the JAVA issue is the problem that we cannot change. It is unfortunate.
