The address wasn't understood

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (magnet) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. 

   You might need to install other software to open this address.

I tried to associate magnet links to my torrent client, but magnet links are not contained in 'Options:Applications'. The Applications list does however contain '.torrent' as a choice and .torrent files work just fine. How do I add magnet link to the Applications list?
